If you aren't already, you will need to become a bike mechanic, almost all these bikes have been neglected, some sitting for over a decade. Once you get it tweaked in, you got a nice ride and 40 miles a gallon. I've bought two, nuff said.

I have spent about $300.00 for tires and some accessories. Though my dream bike is an older GoldWing Interstate, this fills all my needs and then some for now. If a person is somewhat mechanically minded, most work can be accomplished at home with a minimal investment in metric tools and a good Clymer manual, either new or used.

I don't know a lot about motorcycles but I do know this one is very good for me. I'm in the Army stationed at Ft Bragg. I use it for daily commute of 10 miles one way and for cruising on the weekend. I have only had it a short while and only have a learners permit but I think this will be a really good bike to learn on and take my test. This bike really has good pick up for a small bike and I am learning very fast. Some of the guys at work ripe on me for having a little bike but most like the way it looks and so do I, any way I didn't get it for them I'm happy with it so far. When I got it, it only had 10,109 miles on it and is in very good shape and every thing worked on it except the trip meter. It passed inspection without having to do any thing too it. I will probably get a bigger bike some day but will most likely hold on to this one for a long time.

I gave $1K for mine and have spent about that on time and tires, tune ups, fork seals and batteries. This is my 19th bike and one of the best. The old motor is still strong and may not outrun a new CBR but, no Harley has been around it and if you twist the throttle hard enough it'll stay out front of anything!!!

I Bought my 900 Custom a couple of years ago and it had approx. 25K on it.It still runs very well and I have a windshield, engine bar, 4 into 1 exhaust, leather saddle bags, sissy bar and regular shocks(someone replaced the air shocks before I got it).I like the bike because I weigh about 275 lbs. and it seems to perform well except for the suspension .I probably should see about returning the air shocks to the bike. Back in 1988 I had a 1982 900 Custom but I sold it to buy a condo when I got married. I wish now I would have kept that bike as it was mint condition. Over all I like this heavy cruiser.
