Like lots of other wing riders, I realized I prefer the 1500. The engine is carbureted but immediately responsive with lots of grunt and smooth as silk. Regular maintenance isn't a chore, though I did change the timing belts due to the age of the machine. Room? All kinds, including storage for 2 helmets in the trunk. I owned a 2000SE for 6 years and sold it, buying the 1800. Nice bike, but a few years later I went back to a 1500 because as a tourer -- even your every day go to work ride, the 1500 can't be beat. Turn the key. Go. It's reliable and built to outlast most. and it does it with far more maneuverability than you'd think.

I didn't know Honda had made the Pacific Coast. The 1990 I found had 12,500 miles on it and is in immaculate condition. I took a 250 mile trip last Saturday and found it very comfortable. Fuel mileage is 40mpg, acceleration is incredible, and it's the most gorgeous bike I've ever owned. Thanks Cycle Trader, you did it again!

I've always bought Hondas and felt the 90 CBR1000F was the cream of the crop in overall features and design for a motorcycle. But I never bought one until a year ago. I will never sell this bike!!! I bought in Dec., 2009 with 153 original miles. It has lived up to my expectations and apparently to many others as well. I can't take it anywhere without people coming up to me with stories of the CBR1000F they had or a friend had or simply "I remember those..." Yes it`s a little heavy, yes it`s got carbs and not fuel injected but HONDA hit a home run with this bike. I see a lot of newer CBR`s on bike lots and for sale just about everywhere but to own this gem, priceless!!!!

I have owned my CBR 1000F for 4 years now and have enjoyed every ride I have taken. For long trips, I have ridden to Laconia NH and NJ on the bike and comfort was good and better now with the upgrade to a Corbin seat. The previous owners barely broke the bike in as I bought it with only 11K miles on it back in 2001. The silver/gray color is real sharp and the finish and quality have been excellent. It took me awhile to get used to the bike and the power it does have since this was my first motorcycle after I passed the course and received my motorcycle license. After lots of trips now, I am very comfortable with my silver bike and enjoy having the weight on the highway and the power when needed. I would recommend this motorcycle highly and plan to keep mine for many years. Ride Safe

Pulls hard above 5,000 rpms and just keeps on going! Honda's are known for bullet proof reliability. The bike has a real positive personality, sexy, powerful and definitely capable. Unfortunately I cannot take her back to the USA. I would buy another one in US specifications when I get back to USA. I love her and would hate to sell her when I leave.

I tour and com- mute on this bike. I've put GenMar bar extentions, a new taller zero Gravity (Blue) windshield, and Give rack with removeable top box for touring. I am running bridgestone BT020 tires and getting about 10,000 miles . Not bad for a sport bike. Another great feature is a 5 + gal gas tank. Awsome. My honda dealer wants me to trade it in for a new CB1100XX, but I keep telling him no way!! 1990 Red White and Blue CB1000F a Keeper!!

I purchased this bike as a 250 with a Mikuni flatslide carby. It was great to ride in comparison to my mates bikes. They were '93 & '95 model XR250's as well, but had standard carbs. Mine had superior power and acceleration to theirs, however the later model bikes had much better lights. The only downfall of the '90-91 models were their electrics and their soft suspension. I fitted a77mm Wiseco piston, and a lumpier cam(Ballards) to it, as well as a "hotrods" conrod and bigend. After running it in properly, I gave it a good run down south. I had a few straight line Drags with anXT350, aTT350, as well as my mates XR's including a '97 model 400. The only bike to beat mine was the 400, but as soon as we left the road and hit the twisty trails, the 280 really shone. I think its lighter weight combined with it's love for revving, beat the others convincingly. The other advantage was in the fact that it was probably the least tiring to ride. I regularly reach speeds of up to 130 kmh on the powerline tracks. Most of my mates don't like going over 100 on these tracks, but the 280 just asks to be revved hard:-) I run a Michelin H12 at the front and for our gravelly roads and tracks, I don't believe there is a better tyre on the market for this type of riding. I also bought a new stator and fitted one of the UFO "Twins" halogen headlights to it, which not only made it lighter, but also lit up the road so I can see where I am going at night. Conclusion: Well worth the effort. Do it and you will have a bike capable of mixing it with the best, particularly in the tighter stuff.
