Previous to this bike, the biggest bike I'd ridden was 600cc. This bike has a sick amount of power. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. Top speed of 176mph (I'm not going to test that one). This is just a smooth ride, and the bike doesn't bog down at all with a passenger.... read more

I have been riding for three years now. I started on a Honda Shadow 500. I bought my '94 Vulcan used in April of this year. I have put over a thousand miles on it. I love the handling, the gauges, the get up and go (my husband can't keep up on his Honda 1100, I have to wait for him!). She is a little cold blooded, but once warmed up purrs like a kitten. It is only a 750, so it runs high RPM's on the freeway (about 5000 between 70 and 75). I have been considering a bigger bike for the freeway 1 1/2 hour freeway commute to work, but I am having a hard time giving up the shaft drive, the self-adjusting valves, the centerstand, the fuel gauge and the tach gauge. None of which are available on most of the bigger bikes. Not a lot of after market parts out there to dress it up either like there is for Honda's in the same size range. Seems they are going after the 800 and 1500 market, seems a shame, I think this is actually a better bike.

It just felt right and although I have only put about 300 miles on it, it seems to be a great mid-sized bike. I love the shaft drive and liquid cooling. My wife rides with me and says her seat is quite comfortable. I plan to add an engine guard and rear fender rack. I am 55 years old and handling this bike is not a problem.

I thought, with a shaft drive, it would be smooth, but I guess I was wrong. When you pull the clutch, the vibration goes away. So to all of those people who love your Vulcans, I think I would be better off chain-driven 450 Honda.
