I bought the bike used. With ALL the miles and hours I've spent in the saddle.....I can't say I've EVER had a discouraging moment. I get 44mpg---the acceleration and drive is GREAT! Comfort is Superb! It corners very well. My previous 6 bikes were liked....but NOT like a Harley. I've been driving for 35-yrs and can honestly say......IF there's anything wrong with this bike.....well I'm not aware of it. YES---it's heavy....and that takes some getting used-to. But when that learning curve's done and over with....SUPER BIKE!!!!!!

I bought this used and it runs ok. I couldn't get the idle to go right and knew the previous owner hadn't messed with it so I brought it to the dealer. $450 later and it's not much better. Now the tranny is clacking and the break lines always need adjusting. The forks are softening up constantly and there is only 13,000 miles on her. I miss my Suzuki 1500. That bike had 48,000 miles on her and I only put $1200 in her for repairs total including a bent fork which was my fault. Is this what I have to expect from Harley? Just wondering if others are always fixing them. I ride too much to have to worry about being stranded and then gouged by some dealer. My Suzuki dealer would do anything to keep a customer. $17,000 for this headache? She breaks one more time and she's gone.

I received my FLHTCUI in Sept. 99. I've put 15,000 miles on it, with no down time. At 11,000 I had the dealer install the phase two big bore kit and power commander two. That was all it took to make this bike an Ultra Classic.

After having owned 11 motorcycles I can honestly say the 2000 flhtcui is the finest machine I've ever had or been able to ride. I just upgraded from a 95 flhtcu and the difference between the two machines is like night and day. The 2000 has way more get up and go...both at low and high speeds. Simply putting straight full flow pipes on the stock drivetrain gives way more performance than the multiple modifications made to my '95. That bike had a high flow air filter as well as first a Dyno-jet kit and then a Thunderslide cv max full bore kit. I really didn't want to get into messing with the cams on the "95 and thought that the minor modifications that were done gave the Evo noticably more performanceescpecially the Thunderslide. What a difference the twin cam engine makes. Not only is it smoother, but the power is constant almost through the complete throttle range. I was hesitant going from the tried and true Evo to the new twin cam, but now have absolutely no regrets at all. Also, the stopping ability is almost ten fold, thanks to the newer and larger dual calipers and better vented rotors all around. The bike feels much more sure-footed with the new brake system. Rider position has improved dramatically, especially with the addition of a road zeppelin air assisted seat from Harley-Davidson. I would gladly trade in $1200 worth of chrome for this seat. The furthest I could go on my "95 was about 5 or 6 hours tops... and that resulted in severe back and leg pain. The first trip on the 2000 was a 14-hour trip to New Hampshire. I drove straight through and the last half was in the pouring rain. The ability to adjust rider position during the trip with the air bladder's is unbelievable. I got off that bike and felt like I had just got out of the most comfortable easy chair. I have no stiffness or pain at all. I made the same trip home, thinking that the novelty of a new machine had diluted my rider fatigue on the way there, and surely I would now have a sore but on the trip home. Not so. I would not hesitate to go on a major road trip on this new bike. I must tell you that I have logged over 250,000 km on my previous Japanese tourers and customs, and although my '95 Ultra was my favorite bike, I would never have gone more than 6 hours with it unless it was on a trailer. Scared of the jump to the new era? don't give it a second thought. You'll never look back. Welcome to the new millennium of Harley Davidson. It's about time.

This is a bike for the person who spends time in the saddle. The only problem is I run out of gas before I want to take a break. I did install the stage one big bore and new pipes. The bike is fast and handles great for any bike let alone A dresser. If you find one buy it.

I have the identical Ultra pictured here in Luxury Rich Red. The bike is very comfortable especially with the Road Zepplin seat. The air adjustable suspension is great on the road. I have every available accessory on my bike including the Screaming Eagle STAGE 2 BIG BORE KIT. I also use a dyno jet power commander 2 which further smoothes out the power. The bike cruises effortlessly at 80-85 MPH which is where I cruise on the highway. There is just nothing like it, not to mention the Harley mistique that just comes with the bike. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. GET ONE OF THESE.

4000 miles and love it. I added the stage 1 kit and screaming eagle slip on exhaust. The performance and gas mileage both improved considerably. I would recommend this bike to the serious road rider.
