I've had this bike for a few years now was down one cylinder due to carbs needing rebuilt, did everything to it that a 20 year old bike needs, went over everything, rebuilt many things clutch, etc..I rode a xt600 dual sport since i was a teenager and wanted to check out a cruiser and the price was right so i trailered it home. Still have more in parts in this bike than it will ever be worth but that's usually how it goes. Overall it's been a good bike tons of power for a stock 800, this thing will out accelerate a lot of other vehicles and it's really quick but it is geared low so anything over 65 is a little uncomfortable as it's not a highway bike. At first the cruiser handling was a little foreign to me and left me thinking that maybe i had a sticky steering head bearing but it's just how it is with the angle of rake it has on the forks you have to really power through corners to keep it stable. Overall I learned to like this bike and it's made a great addition to the stable and I plan on keeping it around, probably wouldn't part with it for under 2 grand even then i would be a bit torn. Only a few things i dont like about it, it's geared low so it doesn't like highway speeds, it's a little viby, but i think thats just a common thing with the v twin engines in general, the power off idle is a little twitchy, thought it was a carb sync issue but it seems it's just how it is, and I dont like the buckhorn handlebars, just a weird hand angle that gets uncomfortable after a while. Waiting for a set of drag bars and risers to show up on ebay off a later bike for cheap to fix the bar issue. So if you see one of these older intruders with decent miles on it for cheap grab it up because it's worth it, just know that it's a 20 year old bike and it will need work, and if you aren't doing the work yourself then it's not going to be worth "taking it to the shop" when you get the bill, grab a shop manual and get it done.

Many people purchase this bike thinking that it is a cheap sport bike, which in one manner it is. It has the motor (and possibly frame) from the 88-91 GSXR 750. It's old, proven technology. If you think you're getting a sportbike that can hang with anything that has an "R" in the name, think again. This is a sport-touring bike which means you are going to sacrifice speed and agility for other features. It isn't spectacular in any one field but very good across the board. Consider the fact it has a centerstand, gas gauge, and a monster 5.2 gallon tank. Every day I ride it, I'm more impressed with how much of a "jack of all trades, master of none" this bike is. I rode it for 2,000+ miles over four riding days and it performed flawlessly with decent comfort. Could it be faster? Anything can be faster. Does it really need to be for daily road use? I don't think so

I've been riding since I was a kid. I use the 'BUSA' for rush hour traffic into Seattle, 62 miles one-way. Commuting is where the miles have piled up. The dealership has keep my animal alive and kicking. I was hoping to reach 100,000 miles this year but it might not happen until next year.

What a beauty, runs great and sounds great. The only problem right now is, sharing it with my wife (I'm retired so I own the bike weekdays and it's hers weekends). I hope to buy a second Marauder in the spring. We live in a small village, so it's not a problem to ride 2-up on our country roads and not see a car for miles. We are having a BLAST. Stay safe and enjoy your rides.

Bought this bike used, but in mint condition. So far I am very impressed. Comfortable ride, though the seat gets a little painful after a couple hours, but by that time it's ready to be re-fuelled anyway. I would definitely recommend swapping the stock 15-tooth front sprocket for a 16-tooth. It'll reduce the revs at highway speed. didn't like the stock mirrors...they look like something off a '70's trail-bike. The after-market mirrors I bought aren't quite wide enough, so I am waiting on a set of mirror extensions from Spacer Jim. Any Marauder owner should check out his site. He fabricates anything you'll need to make your Marauder (and other bikes) more comfortable, and powerful (he sells jet kits, too). Overall, I am very pleased with my 'Rauder. It gets a lot of comments, especially about the stock paint scheme, and the great condition of the bike.
