Many people purchase this bike thinking that it is a cheap sport bike, which in one manner it is. It has the motor (and possibly frame) from the 88-91 GSXR 750. It's old, proven technology. If you think you're getting a sportbike that can hang with anything that has an "R" in the name, think again. This is a sport-touring bike which means you are going to sacrifice speed and agility for other features. It isn't spectacular in any one field but very good across the board. Consider the fact it has a centerstand, gas gauge, and a monster 5.2 gallon tank. Every day I ride it, I'm more impressed with how much of a "jack of all trades, master of none" this bike is. I rode it for 2,000+ miles over four riding days and it performed flawlessly with decent comfort. Could it be faster? Anything can be faster. Does it really need to be for daily road use? I don't think so

Extremely comfortable (except the stock seat is very uncomfortable on the '00 model so I put a gel seat on), looks awesome and has some good mid range power. I never had a single problem with my Katana. She was an awesome bike and every now and then I see the guy I sold it too riding it. I'm sure he is having a blast on it just like I did. After awhile, you may find you want more power and speed, but you picked a great bike to learn on.

I just purchased this bike about a month ago and I haven't got off it yet! This is a great bike for a beginner, I am 6 foot 5 the seat is a little too low but I still love it. Like I said this is my first bike, so I can't compare it to others. The price was right, a 2000 Katana 750 with 7012km's for $4500.00 ... read more

Friends of mine cannot believe it's a 2000 they all think I bought a brand new bike. Cheers!

I have owned at least 7 previous bikes and used to race GSXR-1100's back in the late 80's and early 90's. This is by far the finest piece of machinery I have owned per dollar! Sure....you can buy a rocket from anyone of the big 4...but...dollar for dollar, this Red Rocket (ok...so sue me, it is Maroon), is the best little piece of 2-wheeled hardware you can get for under 10G's. Last summer, I spent the entire month of July (2001) firmly planted in the seat of this bike and traveled from Wisconsin, to California and back. 8965 miles round trip and not a blip from this bike...just tons of fun, relative comfort , for a sport bike, and plenty of speed when needed. As I traveled through the Sierra's and the Rockies, I noticed little if any power loss in the mountains, and more than enough horseys to have fun in the tight turns of the Bighorn Mts. of Wyoming. Slap a set of Eclipse Saddlebags and a monster tankbag on one of these machines and there is virtually no end to the roads you can travel. There are a few downsides....in high cross-winds the Katana does "road-walk" a bit, but nothing that can't be handled and the seat gets old after about 200+ miles...but...minor annoyances only! Vibration is normal for a 750 and mileage is great at roughly 39-43mpg, if you average a leisurely 70-90mph pace. On a few streches in Texas it ran great and held it's own at 110mph steady, (not that I would advocate breaking the speed limit!). Looking for fast/fun, without the insurance/purchase expense? 1 bike fits the bill...the GSX750 (Katana) from Suzuki! Thanks for a superb bike Suzuki!

Having read all the other Rider Reviews found alongside this one before buying this motorcycle, I have to say they were all correct. It is the best all-round sports-tourer for the money. I deliberated long and hard before getting down to a choice between the GSXF750 and the Honda VFR800. I concluded that the Honda might have a small edge over the Suzuki but not one worth a couple of thousand dollars. I paid a measly $7,000 out the door and have had a permanent grin on my face ever since! The handling can best be described as wonderfully 'neutral'. Even in strong crosswinds, it remains stable at speed on the Interstate. If you want to scrape the foot pegs, it will do that too! Just 'think' it into the curves and it will hold the chosen line without fuss, even on Michigan roads. It might not be the epitome of speed but isn't 145 mph fast enough for most of us? Do I care that some 750 crotch rocket can best me by 10 mph? My back and wrists won't ache at the end of the day. The power is delivered smoothly and precisely, with optimum range for acceleration between 6-10,000 rpm. All this and 45 mpg, cheap insurance and rock-solid reliability. Not only does it perform, but so many people come up just to admire the bike. Mine is what Suzuki call 'green/gold' which sounds disgusting but it looks great and is something different. Negatives - a few but non-worthy of causing one to disregard this 'bike. I find the seat fine for an hour or two but I am investing in a Corbin seat. Also, at 6' 2", I'm opting for a taller fairing, maybe one from Targa or the Euroscreen. That completes this list! One last point of note. If considering the GSXF 750's little sister, the GSXF 600, find the extra $1,000. I asked myself whether or not the 750 was worth the extra cash. The smile on my face says it all, especially if you ride two-up. For me, this machine is a real gem, a pearl amongst motorcycles and my bank account loves it too.

Without a doubt if you are looking for your first bike and are concerned about price buy this bike. Not only is it priced right but you can't beat the comfort. I'm 6'4 and 224lbs and this is by far the best bike for a guy of my size. I have since upgraded to a Suzuki TLR1000 due to an ego. Yes the TLR looks better, yes the TLR runs faster, yes the TLR is quicker and handles better but is the ego boost worth a sore back, sore wrists, and sore neck???
