I hadn't been on a scoot for years, and after researching for months, I bought the 750 last June. I have 11,800mi on her now. This is a GREAT bike for either the experienced or novice..or the rider like me, who wants performance, reliablility, features and price...in that order. Good power, smoooth delivery, shifts like a hot knife thru butta! Absolutely no problems...with reg oil changes, this thing will run a long time. Shaft drive & tachometer. High compression, liquid cooled, twin carbs w/valve adjusters & double OHCams for smooth/quiet engine and excellent mileage. Even a fuel guage! Dual front discs.. which are excellent BTW, good steering geometry...very stable, yet you can flick the 750 around if you want..it's~500lbs wet. The engine will do 70mph @ 4500rpm all day long. Dual rear shocks with air/rebound adj, etc...etc! I like the 'classic' non-Harley look, but I like the throttle response, handling and reliability even more. If you're looking for a super bike that's not necessarily a rocket but has all of the above and more, and you don't NEED to ride something that looks like everything else out there...you can't go wrong for ~6Grand new.

I wrote a previous review in the '01 750, and this is a follow-up. I now have 7120 miles on it. I love it even more. I've added a Mustang seat, and got in on the closeout deal from Mamma Kaw on the fairing. That makes a great bike even better. This is one great bike and I would highly recommend it to anyone....

Been running my new 2001 for a few months now and it's been real smooth and easy to get used to. I customized it by losing the geeky Vulcan 750 stickers on the side panels, they were falling off anyway after the first wash & wax. Also added a studded Mustang seat, matching studded tank panel, Kuryakyn handgrips, factory luggage rack and a National plexifaring windshield. That last item really makes for enjoyable rides on the highway. Hardly get much wind at any speed. With that shaft drive you can ride all day. Still get lots of nice comments from the Harley riders and they can't believe the price even loaded up for less then 6 grand. They all say they spent three times as much for theirs and I can still keep up with the big boys.

I bought a 2001 Vulcan 750 in May 2001. This is my first bike, after I just got my license. After doing the research, I thought this was the best all round cruiser out there for 6,000. I'm 5'10", 150. I bought the bike based on the low price, low maintenance and strong performance for a 750 cruiser. I also like having instrument gauges rather than idiot lights (including a gas gauge and a coolant temperature gauge) - the gauges are all between the handlebars so you can check them and keep your eyes on the road. As a lighter, new rider, the bike seemed big at first, but now it's a piece of cake to handle. I have 1,800 miles on it - the performance and reliability has been flawless. This bike is also very comfortable with a big, nicely padded seat. Most magazines knock the styling - I think it looks great. I use the bike primarily for commuting over a variety of roads - tight turns and some highway. Despite having dual carbs (which really help the performance), I still have been averaging about 48 MPG. My longest highway trip has been about 20 miles. I would have no reservations taking the bike on a long road trip. The bike runs about 4,000 RPMs at 60 MPH and 5,000 at 70 (Red line is 8,500).
