Dont's have this bike anymore, but I bought this bike new and put 12,000 miles on it in the first six months. Rode 20% dirt and 80% on paved highways. Great handling and power. I was stupid to trade it in. Not because of problems with my new bike, 2003 Honda VT1100 Shadow Spirit, but I miss my KLR. It wa... read more

This is a one person bike only. Top speed 110mph after couple tanks of sea foam fuel additive. I wouldn't bother taking it off road into serious dirt/mud, too much power and too heavy. Just a tad flighty in heavy winds, be prepared. More than enough bike. Bit of a juggling act taking off in first due to it having one lung. Just google "KLR650" and you'll see why this bike is king. Just about the cheapest bike out there but not in quality. You better have long legs though. And yes the military uses this bike for a reason, no maintenance! Has the mother of all rear luggage racks with perfect anchor points.

Having ridden a few miles, I can honestly say that I'm still pretty happy with my bike. I have equipped it with hard bags, chain oiler, heated grips, suspension upgrades, you name it, I think I've done it to this bike. The only fault I have is that it's weak on the top end which makes it a little scary during rush hour traffic on the interstate. Other than that, it's perfect. You might consider a different seat than Corbin. Great quality, but rock hard. Of the 3 bikes in my stable, my wife likes to ride 2 up on this one. What does that tell you?

It'll take you to work, help bring back the groceries from the store, and on weekends you'll be able to hit the highway for a few hundred miles or reach your favorite jeep trail. I've taken jeep trails rated difficult and the bike fared well. The engine is great, and torquey. The suspension on the other hand is the bike's weak point and you'll need to invest in new springs for the front and rear just to get something decent. Same with the front brake, but this can be solved with quality pads. Overall, it's 4 stars.

Bought my KLR and the main gripe I have is that the seat is too soft for long distance riding. Not a problem. Corbin has the answer. I've owned Hondas and BMWs and, while not an autobaun burner, this bike is worth every penney. Enought power to cruise down the road and can handle unpaved roads with aplomb... read more

Tremendous after market to turn this bike into a fully armoured tourer.
