I got my KLR in Feb. of this year. I've owned several dual-sport bikes and this is the best so far. Before this I had a KE-175D2 for 15 years. I got my KLR in Feb. of this year. I've owned several dual-sport bikes and this is the best so far. Before this I had a KE-175D2 for 15 years. In 1977 I bought a Honda XL-350 and rode it to bike week(Daytona). My KLR is a better road bike than anything so far. I do feel however, that it's not much of a dirt bike. My XL and KE were much better off road yet, still gave me the performance I needed on the road. For now I ride my KLR to work(30miles total)and also on the weekends for fun. I ride with a great many differant types of riders and have not felt[undergunned]. Off road is a differant story. The bike is great for unimproved roads as long as you are moving. Slow down for trails and the bike is very front heavy. It almost seems neccessary to put weight on the rear of the bike to balance things out. I have Kaw.tall windshield and it is kinda scary when the front end comes up and you are looking right at the edge of it.The bike is very happy at speeds of 65 and less. Hey it's got one cylinder what do you want? My route to work includes speeds of up to 70mph,and the bike seems to run fine. Anything else and I find the bike much too light. Right now my mpg. is about 47 AND I AM LOOKING FOR WAYS TO IMPROVE THAT. In short anyone who rides one of thease knows what I mean and, anyone else would not understand.

I didn't even know how to ride when I bought my KLR. Two months and 3700 miles later, I'm pretty confident. This bike is a blast to ride; it soaks up potholes like they're not there, it'll hold a steady 80mph on the highway, and it's a demon at the high-tension wires. It's good competition with the BMW Dak...

It's good competition with the BMW Dakar, without the BMW pricetag.

This bike is a lot of fun. Great city bike. Poor road conditions and pot holes are where this bike really shines! This bike is very comfortable around town because it is much lighter than most street bikes. Looking forward to doing some trail riding soon too!...
