If you are a first time rider this is the best bike for you. This bike may be small but it is very quick and handles very well which gives you the good practice your gonna need if your gonna move up. This bike ROCKS! I purchased a new 2002 leftover in the spring of 2003. I rode it all season long (even in the rain). I have owned a 125 Suzuki DR, a 250 Suzuki DR, Katana 600, and a Ninja ZX7. This was the most fun for the money. Although the bigger bikes were faster and sounded louder, I liked this one best overall. It is an excellent blend of power and value. My only complaint is that when you add a passenger, it bogs down a bit, but riding alone, you feel like you are on a much faster and bigger bike than what it is. The best part was the insurance. WAY LESS than on my big ones! and The gas milage was AWESOME! 60+ MPG.

This was my first motorcycle and I'm glad I got this instead of a 600cc. The little Ninja has built up my confidence a lot! I'm a better rider in the twisties than my friend's 600cc because they still don't know the limits of their bikes. With the 250R I know how hard I can push it and that makes me faster. O... read more

I'm a better rider in the twisties than my friend's 600cc because they still don't know the limits of their bikes. With the 250R I know how hard I can push it and that makes me faster. Over all this is a great bike with enough punch to pass cars with ease.

I, like most people, started small and convinced myself that bigger must be better..I've owned 100cc (2), 185, 175cc (2), 500cc (2), 650cc (3) 750cc, 1000cc (3), 1200cc, 1300cc and some others... I even owned a harley sportster once (though I don't usually admit it ). But this Ninja 250 is by far the most fun bike I've ever owned. It zips like a circuit racer, stops on a dime and looks like a much bigger bike. If you buy one, don't tell anyone its a 250... tell them its a "Seven fifty by three".. it won't be a lie and they won't even question it....

I recommend this bike to anyone who wants to learn to ride on a sportbike or standard. The seating position is not much different from the Nighthawk 250, but the Ninja is a world away in reliability and performance. Turns with a thought, accelerates fast enough to do highway on-ramps without experiencing cold sweats, and tops out well above the legal speed limit. Good range for the class, sips fuel. Holds its value well, expect very little depreciation as long as you don't drop it. Overall, a great way to get into the sport.

Good bike for learning on. Great around town and the country roads. The bike likes to vibrate, found this to be the downfall, otherwise it is good. Beware of crosswinds you will be pushed all over the road. Sold this one and upgraded to a 2003 - 600 Bandit see the review.... read more

I would definitely recommend this bike for beginners as it is not as intimidating as its bigger brothers. Also the 250 holds it resale value (for when you are ready to upgrade). Great for commuting to school and work, awesome gas mileage and a steal for the price. Overall a nice package.
