Well I did it, I broke down and purchased a left over 2005 Midnight Custom, V-Star 1100. I don't know if this is the rating that the bike should get, for I am new to the "cruiser" catagory. I traded a 2002 Kawasaki ZX6R, Ninja for the V-Star. So far I have put 200 miles on the bike and the more I ride it the better it feels. I do however have a question about a metalic ticking noise that is quite loud when the bike gets hot. I asked the dealer about it and he claims that it is natural for this model.

It was difficult to find a new bike for someone as vertically challanged as myself, as well as getting a bike that isn't heavy OR doesn't have power enough for highway riding and cruising. The VStar 1100 Custom was my choice. I chose the Midnight version of this bike. In its stock state, the bike was a great looker. But I've added a few personal touches and now it's everything I've ever wanted in a motorcycle.

This is my first venture into motorcycles. My wife used to ride years ago on a Harley. We searched through a lot of bikes and saw this. We bought two and added backrests and floorboards to both. Yamaha's aftermarket equipment is excellent in both price and quality. My son 6, sits comfortably on the back & enjoys every minute. Looking at getting Kuryakyn Hyperchargers and then change the pipes. These bikes ride, feel & look great. Both in Raven, they get complemented and a great deal of surprise from others. We couldn't be happier & got a great deal buying new 2005 models at a big discount as the 2006 had just come out. Overall couldn't be happier.

Other than getting some bad gas less than 3 weeks after purchasing the bike, I'm lovin' it. I'm just sorry I didn't purchase it back in the summer. Now I have got to wait out the winter before I can really ride.

My third Yamaha - Great ride, great sound, and 15% increase in rear wheel HP on the dyno with the pipes & carb kits! Lots of low end - and 48 MPG too. It comes with lots of chrome. I got the silver with flames and it turns a lot of heads! The bars could be swept back an inch or 2, and rear monoshock is a pain to get to and adjust, but 95% of my riding is 1 up, so who cares? What a restart after 18 years off the bike!

Great ride. Plenty of power. No extra junk or gaudy designs. I expect to keep it for many years. Dumb thought that Yamaha won't change the need to remove the pipes to change the oil. And why no tach? And why a speedo sitting so low you have to take your eyes off the road? And why no gas gauge still the stupid manual valve? And why not a larger front tire and frame design to keep it from scraping the corners so easy? Overall though it is a sweet bike.
