I’m around 5’7 and mainly opened 800 to 1200 cc motorcycles over the years,,,, any feedback from others would be appreciated,,,, though I’m not completely flat footed at a stop on an incline do you believe I would have any issues with balance and how is the street glide and it’s size as far as winding roads and body adjustments? I appreciate your feedback

This is my 4th Harley. I have had two Dyna Wide Glides and one other Electra Glide Ultra Classic. In addition I had 3 Goldwings for a period of over 24 years. I sold my last Goldwing in 2013. It was a 2010. It had a bad low speed wobble between the speed of 35-50. I spent over $2,000 dollars and wrote Honda three times trying to correct the problem. Honda never replied until I sent a letter stating I had sold the cycle. I purchased the 2014 Ultra Classic on September 30, 2013. I did the stage one and added a couple thousand dollars worth of extra chrome. Other than a few recalls the Harley has been perfect. Sure it is not as smooth as a Goldwing but other than idle it is a surprise to see how this motorcycle operates. Harley has come a long way in building a great cycle. Every time I ride this cycle I am excited with the ride. I live in South Texas and sometimes in the summer in traffic the engine gets hot and puts out heat, however these are rare occasions.

I bought the HD Softail Slim about a month ago. My previous bike was a Honda Shadow Aero 750. I wanted a bike that had more power but fit me as well as the Honda and this bike certainly fits the bill. I wasn't really looking for an HD, certainly not looking for a bike with a nearly 1700cc engine but I made the mistake of sitting on this one. At 5'1" there aren't very many bikes that fit me off the showroom floor and I had never found an HD that came close to fitting me but this bike feels like it was made for me. It handles extremely well, turning into corners with very little effort, but is very stable at high speeds. It's also seriously beautiful to look at. The fit and finish is exceptional. I really can't say enough good things about it. If you're short and looking for something with some get up and go, this is the bike for you. My only nits to pick is that the bike runs seriously hot (you're sitting right on top of the engine) and HD needs to rethink where they put the kickstands on their 'low' models.

Kudos to Russ and the whole staff for taking such good care of me.

I have owned many motorcycles over the past 24 years; from sport bikes, to cruisers, and now a tourer. The Street Glide, by far, is my favorite! I'd been wanting a Harley for a while, but frankly, I just had difficulty parting with that much money. Finally, in January of this year, after much delberation, I decided to bite the bullet and buy one. I traded in my 2008 Yamaha V-Star Silverado (22k miles) for a 2014 Street Glide in Amber Whiskey. I couldn't be happier. It is nimble in the twisties, smooth on the interstate at 85 mph., and comfortable at 35 mph. on small country roads. I use it as both a commuter and weekend pleasure machine. I chose the SG not only for its looks, but the way it fit me. I am 6'/190 lbs. with a 31" inseam (short legs and arms). I can place both of my feet flat on the ground at traffic lights with no problem at all - I can even lift my butt a few inches off the seat if I stand up. The only negative I have found is that I wish the handlebars were about 2" closer to me. It doesn't affect my control at all, and they have been just fine on 200-mile days. From time to time though, I do notice some slight uncomfortability. It does not occur on every ride; it might just be because I'm 43. I don't plan on spending the money to change them. I just think it might be slightly more comfortable for me. I have found the tension on the new hydraulic clutch to be only slightly tighter than the tension on my broken-in cable clutch on the V-Star, but it is not overly tight. The new interlinked braking system seems to cause the front brakes to grab at different points from time to time when pulling the front brake lever. Again, it hasn't affected my stopping ability. I love the new saddlebag latches - so glad I waited until 2014. After four months I can say I am completely satisfied with the SG and plan to keep it at least 10 years, which would be a record for me. Ride safe everyone!!!
