I'm a proud owner who enjoys the ride and handling of this bike. Buyers: be aware that the final drive has a bad reputation. The rear brake rotor is poorly designed that equates to brake squeal and becomes so loose that it sounds like it will fall off any moment. The radio display window becomes etched over time and requires much care. The factory seat is much better than in years past but still pinches on long rides. Rider position while ergonomically correct for short rides still falls short on the long haul. Jpegs (Hwypegs) are a joke. All this aside, I wouldn't own another brand bike of any type.

My 4th and final bike! Meets and exceeds all expectations. Gave it a "4" on performance ONLY because its not as responsive as the rockets! It will get to whatever speed you think might be neccessary, Just give it a moment after 60 MPH. But go ahead and pull out in front of that truck if you wish....

I was all set to buy a VTX1800 (Honda) when my brother called and said he could get me a K1200 LTC for a good price. It was an '03 factory demo and only had 720 miles on it. Well, after a few hours of thinking it over and a side-by-side comparison of the two bikes, I had to go with the BMW, and boy, am I glad. It came loaded: 6-CD changer, heated seats/handgrips, alarm system, luggage rack w/brake light, and all the other standard goodies. And the price between the two bikes was almost equal after adding saddle bags, windshield and sissy bar to the Honda (the K1200 was about $500 more out the door). I picked the bike up in Daytona and my brother and I immediately started on a 800+ mile weekend ride (he has an '05 K1200). I must say I was greatly impressed from the beginning. I had not ridden a bike in almost 15 years, but this one is so well mannered, it was as if I had not stopped riding at all. The bike handles extremely well at all speeds. The cruise control is a necessity for long road trips, and the one on this bike is outstanding. To make a long story short, I would recommend the K1200 to anyone who is seriously thinking about a touring bike, no questions asked....This bike is well thought out and engineered - in a class by itself. PS - the only gripe I have is the cost of accessories - I hope to find an aftermarket company to add the few accessories I want (jpegs, GPS)....

I also have a 2001 Suzuki Bandit 1200S that my wife and I have been riding together until we got the LT, I don't think she will ever get on the Bandit again. We took a trip to Gettysburg Pa. on a rainy weekend and I was very pleased with the bike in the rain. I haved used the CB and if there is any complaint it is that the CB cuts out the radio whenever there is a transmission on your frequency, this is very annoying so I turn off the FM or CD when I have the CB on. This bike is very comfortable on the few 300+ mi. day trips I have taken so I would recommend it to anyone.

The wife and I just came back from a trip from Mobile, Alabama to Washington, DC. We traveled for 2 days in the rain to get there and the BMW could not have handled any better. My previous bike was a 2000 BMW RT1100. The LTE blows it away with creature comforts and smoothness. The communication system and music melt away the miles and the vibrationless motor enable you to ride all day without tiring. The cruise control is to kill for. My only complaint lies in the CB radio that is not controllable on the handlebars, but requires making adjustments on the fly in the storage compartment on the gas tank. Not very safe and very inconvenient.

I could not be happier with my choice. The KLT carves corners with increadible precision. Amazingly, the driver feedback is nearly identical with 2up versus alone. I put 1500 miles on in the first week and can't wait to pile on the miles. Now I take my wife and we can both enjoy a truely superbly engineered machine.
