I bought this bike for $3,200 brand new. We've been from Canada to Key West and from New York to Pikes Peak. A professional mechanic when I bought it, I wanted a bike that if I just kept the fluids changed, did the occasional spark plug replacement, put in a new battery every few years and kept up the tires and brakes that I could ride for this many years and never have to do anything else. Well it's 2016... and I've also had to replace a couple of rear turn signals and a flasher and besides the above, nothing else. What a Bike. I never dreamed when I bought it that it would perform and last so long. With around 50K on it right now, I'd trust it on a coast to coast ride in a heartbeat. It's no wonder this bike still has such a large following. And I see that used, this bike is still being sold around $2,500. Hard to believe that if I sold it today... that 30 years of dependable transportation on a 2 wheeled vehicle that handles and ride as well as it does would have only cost $500.

I bought a 1983 Honda CB1000C when it was first offered. My wife and I toured on it with a tank bag. It is strong and relatively quiet and I like the traditional styling. I traded it for the V-four Magna and other bikes after that. I didn't ride for many years. About three years ago I started to miss riding and after searching found a cherry 1000 exactly like the one I had only this one had 12,000 miles on it.

One of the greatest rides ANYWHERE. Power, agility, like a lithe cat on the prowl, 89hp and over 10K rpm redline. This bike is a screamer or a docile pussy cat, it can cruise at 90 or at 30. Not may motorcycles do what this big bike can, and there are not any new ones that compare. With the Hondaline fairing and a radio, a crusier. With just a windscreen, a screamer. I have seen 140 mph and lots left in the bike.

When they punched out the 900 to make it 1000 it took a bike that has some vibration in it and made it like glass. It's fast in low range and eats bikes -- and glides in high range I ran it to and from races giving the rockets a run for the money. It is still in use with my brother riding it in Denver Colorado. We all would buy another. What a engine. Just keep the valves chims right and the cam chain tight.

Having owned a 1000 custom for many years I realize what a great bike it is. If I could find a good today I'd buy it in a minute. It's smooth and fast, has good looks, and is durable -- a classic bike. tpm
