I just picked up two '85 Nighthawk 450's...one complete, and one for parts. The bike is in near mint condition, with low miles. For a small displacement bike, it really doesn't feel so small. I love the riding position, and the bike handles great. It's not an overly powerful bike, but it is a perfect commuter, and can get me pretty well anywhere I need to be. I love it.

I bought my 450 Nighthawk for $450.00 and it has been worth every penny. It sat idle for a long time, so I have rebuilt the carbs myself (never did this before and found it VERY easy to do) and have loved every mile since. It has plenty of power for the novice rider (I'm 43, just took the MSF course) and is perfect for my across town jaunts to work and back. I can see myself wanting something bigger someday, but for now, this bike is perfect!

The Nighthawk was my first bike, and I still love it. It's been great to commute on; it handles very well at low speeds, but can also maintain freeway speeds with little trouble (there's no fairing or windscreen, so long distances at speed can be tiring). This is also a great bike for do-it-yourself maintenance -- there are a few third-party service manuals (Clymers, Haynes) in addition to the original owner's manual, and the bike is well-laid-out, so it's easy to learn mechanics by playing with it. Sure, it isn't as flashy or fast as a brand-new sportsbike, but as a cheap, easily-maintained, mid-speed standard, you can't go wrong with the Nighthawk 450 at all.

This is my first bike that I learned on. It`s fun to ride and cheap on gas.

Just kidding -- this bike can barely get out of it's own way. It is very reliable and easy to ride. I got mine free so I can't complain. A definite entry-level bike.
