I have heard of the weave but never experienced it with this bike. Up to 130 with no weave (with the windshield down), however what I have experienced in the last 6 months of ownership is this. This is a heavy girl. As bike weight goes up the room for error goes down. Mixmatched tires, off tire pressures and unbalanced laods can and will have a drastic effect on handling. The rear shock adjustment has a lot of travel. Going up in that travel is no biggie (I recommned as stiff as you can stand it for best handling) but going down I recommend doing it 1 or 2 clicks as it will take a little time for the shock to settle down and you could find yourself riding more of a slinky if you get happy with the adjustments. Front forks have little adjustment other than stiffer springs and oil. Stock are pretty stiff and dive is minimal even in heavy braking Handling is good and its hard to scrape the pegs. More at home going 100 on the highway but going down the twisties this beast shines more than one might expect as even hitting good sized rocks in the turns moves it very little. The weight is noticeable but not tiring. After a day on the Blue Ridge, I know i've been riding all day ride but no next day soreness or stiffness that can accompnay some bigger bikes. Motor is excellent and robust. Smooth as silk with little buzzing even at high rpms.Yes the motor whine can be drowning for some but most will be so impressed with the ride and handling it becomes one of its charms. Gas mileage is better than most bikes even with the extra 250lbs. Maintainence is fairly easy and doesnt need much compared to most. I regularly get 50 and have seen 60MPG under the right conditions. 7.5 gallon gas tank ensures you get there and since main tank is below the seat, center of gravity is low and managemble even at slow speeds though I wouldnt park on an incline with a curb without backing in. Alternator has enough amperage to add any electrical features you could want without taxing it. HP and torque ratings vary and doesnt have what some others do but way more than fast enough to send you to prison so there's that. Comfort wise, most will probably opt for the aftermarket seat. I have had to raise the stock seat all the way to keep my nuts from getting crushed against the tank. I can go for about 2 hours on the highway before having to stretch but can spend hours on the twisties at Blue Ridge and it doesnt bother me probably cause Im not in one position for very long. Shorter riders looking for a sport touring will love the low seat height as I am 5'6 and can handle this bike with ease. Panniers are great and can handle full face helmets on both sides. (good luck getting that from anyone else), Easy to lock and unlock and doesnt rewuire different keys though so integrated into the bikes looks that without them its like a turtle thats lost its rear. In conclusion: This bike does everything so well for its size with forgiving handling it could almost be described as boring but hit the twisties and she can make your butt pucker more than once. Because of its size and power there is less room for error compared to others, I would recommend getting to know this bike and the setup well before taking to its limits. Good matched tires are a must and pressures need to be checked more often. Do this, change the oil and tires as scheduled and you have a machine that will keep you satisfied whether riding to the store for groceries, touring the US or hitting the twisties at Deals Gap, this bike will be with you for a long and practically maintenance free time and with Honda reliability. You will be hard pressed to find one that can do it all better.

Well after all those years Goldwing decided not to be called as a "Lazy Boy Couch on two Wheels" I guess and finally redesign the whole thing. As every newly designed item some points were a "miss" and some were a "wow" (in a good way)... Like famous saying "there is no such thing as perfect bike" we can all agree no bike can do everything great. For a bike to fit perfectly in a category it has to be stripped from the specifications of the other classes. So, one can not expect the passenger comfort to be great on a Hayabusa and don't expect a Goldwing perform great on a knee deep creek crossing... of course don't expect the wind protection of a Goldwing or an R12xxRT on a GS model. Whatever bike you'd like to bike stop comparing it with other brands/models. Even if they are in the same category. Don't think what bike A does compare to bike B and compared to bike C... But rather make a list of your priorities and buy the bike that fits your description of those. What are you looking at a bike? What kind of riding you do? etc, etc... So, What a 2021 Honda Goldwing Tour DCT does good? What it brings to the table ? - Honda's Goldwing Engine reliability... - DCT's comfort and ease of riding... - Technological advancements like ABS, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control, Riding modes, LED lights, Large color screen, Heated grips/seats, walking mode, Reverse gear etc... - Technological fun stuff like GPS, Apple/Android Car Play, SiriusXM radio, AM/FM/Bluetooth AUX connection - Goldwing world famous passenger comfort, - Newer larger capacity top case (compared to 2018-2019 models) I ride since I was 17 and that means I am riding since last 47 years. Like many of you guys I only owned and ride manual transmission bikes whether 5 or 6 speed. DCT was a curiosity purchase mainly and because of the good reviews too in a way. Since last 10 years I changed 10 bikes I told myself "what could go wrong"... If I didn't like it I could change this one too. Only few weeks past since the purchase and only 1500 miles I put on during this time. Does my left hand reaching for an invisible clutch time to time? Yes... Does my left foot kicking the air during a rapid acceleration from a dead stop position? Heck yes! But do I admit bike rides like a dream? Also heck yeah! For those who'd like to be in charge of which her they are in and when, please remember there is a Manual mode on this otherwise Automatic bike. Drop to 3rd or kick it to 7th whenever you pleased to do so under any circumstance. Then when you get tired of doing it just simply touch the button marked "A" and let the bike do it for you whether you're on tight twisties averaging 20-35mph or on a straight away Interstate cruising at 80 mph. As for slow speed maneuvers as we all know "parking lot maneuvers", trust me you'll get used to within an hr or so after getting on this bike! Will it perform parking lot tricks for the audience after an hr? No possibly not... But after a week or so, you can do that too! Once muscle memory begins to disappear and loosen the grip of your brain everything becomes the second nature on a Goldwing DCT... Heck, every time I switch bike models and brands that muscle memory cause me to blow my horn in most inappropriate times instead of hitting the signal switch or vice versa. Once the location of the controls etched in your brain there is no way going back to MT... Unless you're a person who is driving a car with Automatic transmission and at every passing mile you wish you were in a car with stick shift, trust me in a week or so after owning one you'll never look back and feel sorry for not having a bike with manual transmission! As for the other common gripe I hear regarding luggage capacity of the last generation of Goldwing Tour; I don't know how much stuff you're taking with yourselves on a one-up tour but the saddlebags are more than adequate for a modern era Touring adventure for reasonable times and destinations. If you're planning an Ewan McGregor style Long Way Round type circumnavigation, just remember they've had a supply truck followed them... For those of you touring one-up, there's always possibility to put a portable bag on passenger seat and voila or those of you who are traveling with your spouses just tell your sweetheart to leave the washer and dryer back at home please! Hope to see all of you on the road no matter what you choose to ride and where you choose to ride... So have fun and be safe out there!

Best bike I’ve owned to date all around, for handling, reliability, comfort and room to carry travel gear for two. Also, hands down the best bike to handle high cross winds safely. I’ve owned or currently own BMW, Yamaha, Harley Ultra Classics, Road Glides, and currently also own a 2018 Goldwing, and none compare to the ‘05 for a completely well rounded motorcycle. 43 MPG if you stay 78 or under. Push it over 80, it drinks a little more.

Like lots of other wing riders, I realized I prefer the 1500. The engine is carbureted but immediately responsive with lots of grunt and smooth as silk. Regular maintenance isn't a chore, though I did change the timing belts due to the age of the machine. Room? All kinds, including storage for 2 helmets in the trunk. I owned a 2000SE for 6 years and sold it, buying the 1800. Nice bike, but a few years later I went back to a 1500 because as a tourer -- even your every day go to work ride, the 1500 can't be beat. Turn the key. Go. It's reliable and built to outlast most. and it does it with far more maneuverability than you'd think.

Great road trip bike. We have traveled extensively in the US and Canada prior to the Covid pandemic. Our trips were on a 2012 Goldwing and a 2009 Goldwing. Comfort and reliability were our favorite attributes of the Goldwing bikes. We have owned Goldwings since 2002 and have been blessed with perfect trips on each of our long road trips. Our average trip was 3000 miles and we never had a breakdown. We cannot say that for our friends that were on different brands of bikes. For comfort and reliability we definitely recommend all Goldwing 1800's.
