I turned my XR into a dual sport bike when I was 16. It was used as my main source of transportation for 4 years! Only rebuilt the motor once. Then when the head gasket was spewing oil and it seemed doomed, the bike kept going for another 6 months until I sold it. THESE BIKES ARE UNSTOPPABLE! I rode it day in and day out, on road and off road and only replaced tires, chains, sprockets, and oil. Plus it will do 150 miles on a tank which makes for a really fun adventure.

We replaced the fork boots, seat cover, tool bag, chain and sprokets, tank and numberplate stickers. I refinished the plastic to new condition. It was alot of work but it was worth it!! Thanks John, This is one of the nicest xr500r around!

It's 19 years old now but it's light, torquie and run like a top. It does seem to weez a bit quickly as the revs build but that's just my opinion. Keep in mind that my other to bikes are a 98 ZX-9R and a 2001 YZ250N - 2 stroke.... read more

I bought my XR new in 83. I ride it every summer. Just add gas and change the oil every once in a while. This bike is bullet proof. Great fun all the time. Lots of power with out being out of control.... read more

This old thumper keeps up with all the new bikes such as the Honda XR 400's. It has great handling for an older bike. You can climb any hill while still in second gear. Let the DR's try that. Most of all, it takes a licking and keeps on ticking.... read more
