The 03 Scout is a solid bike with plenty of power. I've added new Vance & Hines straight shot exhaust, Doherty Machine power vents, lower crank vent filter, K&N intake filter,carbon/kevlar brakes and lots of chrome. This bike will never cease to be noticed wherever I ride it! Oh, by the way, if you put some of the performance parts in that I did, beware of the solo seat. You may just fly off the back ! The only problem I had was with the starter setup. Starter motor died in the first 500 miles and the starter gear bolt worked it's way out after 5000 miles. The stock brakes are a little weak but, servicable. All things considered, I love this ride and it really turns heads. Especially when you pop the throttle with those loud pipes ;-) I selected this bike over the Harley FXDL (Dyna Low Rider). I've noticed that Harley folks love this bike too! that's my 2 cents. I've been ridin' for about 22 years and I think I'll stick with this Scout for a long time to come.

The bike is stable at high speeds. I had my 02' Scout up to 100 mph No problems. It has alot more power than the Harleys 75hp not 51hp. The attention to detail is second to none. You won't be dissapointed.

Fairly New Rider - had a Honda Shadow ACE 750 for 4 months, but quickly out grew it. The transistion can best be described as formery riding a field mouse, now riding a Grizzly Bear. The Honda is a fine machine - but the Indian is worlds apart. Stock, with baffles out, restrictor plate gone, and a carb re-jet adds a kickass sound. The 88in S&S provides a nice punch of power. The bike is all chrome'd up out of the factory - in all probably has a good 3K in upgrades over a new HD Deuce. Another factor was that the local HD dealers are jacking up the '03 100th anniversary bikes 35% over MSRP (read 21K for a Dyna Low-stock. Got the Indian with upgraded seat and rear pegs for $16.8K - can't go wrong there - why be like everyone else. Indian Rocks!
