I bought the bike new. It was a fast, and quick - an in-line, air/oil cooled, four cylinder, comfortable semi-sport standard. After adding a small fairing and a supertrapp 4-1 and taking out a couple of spacers, I could not have asked for a better running or better sounding bike. It was much more comfortable for the long haul and had longer legs than the Madura I also owned at the time. The seat was broad, flat with lots of room to move around on, and fairly well padded. The disk brakes worked very well, better than the anti-dive unit on the front wheel. I suppose it was not as nimble as the true sport bikes of the day, but it was flat out faster than you wanted to go. And the roads in South Texas are mostly straight anyway. I hit a pot hole one day on a back road at extra-legal speed and the bike absorbed it well in one hard wheel wobble, then straight and true - no damage done. The bike would put you into the triple digits surprisingly quick; you really had to pay attention if you didn't want to attract undesired attention on the four-lane. This is a bike that wants to have the throttle twisted when you point it down the road. I'm not a corner carver myself, but I like to run the roads and this bike would do it and with comfort, "no pretzel boy here!" I ride solo, but it carried two into triple digits almost as quick as one; she had to see what it felt like. The back seat is reported as reasonably comfortable also. I got caught in a freak torrential down pour one day out in the hinterland. There was no cover, and you were going to drown whether you stopped or rode, I rode, slowly. The bike stayed well planted and never missed a beat. The bike also stayed maintenance free other than a blown fork seal. It needed another fork seal replacement at 23,500 when I sold the bike. The chain was a monster. I never had to replace it. It seems like I had to replace the rear tire about every 8-9000 miles though. I really wish I had not sold that bike.
