I bought this bike new in 03. I have had more fun on this bike than any other I have ridden. It has such smooth power. I average about 38 mpg, however when you get up to 80 on the highway the mileage drops dramatically. Over all you can't beat this bike for the price.

Perhaps even the best bike ever built (for the money.) Been riding for 6 years now, and I just landed an SV1000 naked version. I will never give this bike up, I will probably ride it until the wheels fall off. And when they do (hopefully never because that would suck) I would get another one. Torque out the behind complements the comfy riding position. I could ride this thing all day and night if the wife would let me. Bought her used and saved 1000's. Best money I've ever spent. If you're debating on this versus the SV650... get the 1000, you won't regret it. I've ridden many different bikes, and this is by far my favorite of all time.

Have had the pleasure of owning a silver SV1000S for 7 months now with no complaints. This bike has ALOT of useable torque. Throttle induced wheelies are too easy. In short this is a solid, fun, well put together bike. Great bike for the money.

As current owner of a Vaklyrie, Superglide (+ 5 others) I looked for a modern day version of a 1970 Triumph Bonneville, not a pretender like W650 or new Bonneville. I'm 60, 6ft, 240lbs. Wanted a low naked bike, upright riding position (can custom bars), serious kick ass power, easily modifiable engine and ride height. Out of the box the SV1000 is probably one of the best all around motorcycles made. It is quite fast but a racer friend says M-4 mufflers and a power command chip will raise HP to 120. Friend races LT1000. SV1000 is light, low center of gravity, has V-Twin low and mid-range torque, no squirrely sudden power surges, no need to rev for power, no great need to shift a lot as torque is available throughout the whole rev range, fit and finish up to current high standards. If you are really into riding and not just posing this is a superb machine. Suzuki on 10-13-03 offers low financing. NO, I'm not a Suzuki employee, I've worked with adolescent boys in group homes for 30+ years and I just have never had to grow up.

Although I haven't purchased mine yet, "getting the house re-fi out of the way first". This is the one I want. I'm 5'6" at 160lbs. This bike is much more comfortable than the SV1000S. Feels smaller and tighter, the reach to the bars isn't as aggressive as the "S" but still sporty. Just about completely flat footed, right foot can be firmly planted at a stop. Seat to peg relationship, again not as aggressive as the "S" so it's more comfortable. This bike deserves 5 stars just for fit and feel. We already know the "S" has a sweet engine, this one will surely deliver the go power as well. A small sexy wind screen will help when touring duty comes into play. For the price, and packed with that great V twin power, this will surely be one of the best naked bikes on the market.
