Triumph Speed Four Motorcycle reviews

I'm going on my second year and have just incountered my first problem. My fault for getting bad gas but it clogged the injectors. She went into the shop and got her 12k service early and 30 min after picking her up I got another ticket! Can only say volumes about how much I love this bike can't wait to get an 09 R1 though! I love this bike. It handles perfectly if not a bit aggressive. The power stomps most everything short of new sport bikes. Good insurance rates thanks to the fact there are so few of these out there. The ONLY thing I would sell this for is a baby version of the speed trip in the form of a naked Daytona 675. The spectacular failure of Triumph to promote this bike makes that unlikely. The other nail in the coffin of this naked class bike is the fact that it out performed every other bike in its class. It's faster, stops quicker, handles better, and was cheaper than every thing else. The bike zines seem to think that naked class bikes should be warm and cuddly and the rather unfriendly to beginners performance left this bike out of ALL reviews of like bikes. One mag stated it was obvious half way through our first test there was a wolf in sheeps clothing in the bunch... as the Speed4 left the FZ6, SV650, 620 Monster, and the Honda 599 fighting for second. This is a great bike for blasting down the back roads and an absolute blast in the twisties. It does not have as much outright power as some of the Japanese bikes but it is a LOT more fun and engaging. It has fantastic mid range power and good handling out of the box. I can ride the back roads all day and not be tired or sore afterwards. It is a great all-around bike that fits my needs and wants, good job Triumph. Show less

I bought it to give myself a break. I have a daily commute of about 25 miles to work, and 25 miles back. I realized that I had the option of either a twisty mountian pass (Like-Like Hwy) or a freeway (H3) and decided to make an attempt to enjoy Hawaii's year-round riding weather. Rain or shine I find myself choosing my Triumph. I bought it in lieu of a speed triple. (they only had a green one) a real bargin compared to the prices most 600cc bikes here cost, I am constantly suprised by the agility and responsiveness of this little bike. Gawked at and talked about by fellow riders, it's one of two on the whole island. I only wish they'd have put better shoes on it, I got rid of the battlax (Bridgestone) tires after 2000 miles, as they just didn't feel as ready to handle the corners as the bike did. Show less

After riding a new Triumph Bonneville (2001) for a year and a half, I decided to add a sport bike to my stable. I wanted something light and nimble for back road twisties. I test rode Ducati Monsters (620 and 916), which were nice. I kept looking at a green Speed Four at my local shop, and finally bought it (Feb 03). I paid a premium, compared to this year's price, but still feel like I got a deal. What a bike! I too, was shocked at the reaction people have to that bike. It is way different than the Bonnie (28,000+ miles), but still unusual. The bike is so different looking, and sounds like a symphony-of-howls rolling down the street. The stock pipe is cool (to me)! I have nearly 9,000 miles on it, and have had no probs. I ride it year-round, except in icy conditions. The Pacific Northwest seems to agree with my Triumphs. Show less

This little sports rocket is a gem. A sports bike with the fairing off rather than a budget 600 like the Bandit. The Triumph has four coats of paint and is built to go through a British winter. It handles like a dream. It has an exhaust note, which turns heads. I spent the first thousand miles running it in with a grin on my face as everyone pavement side turned to see it, youngsters gaped, older men reminisced and everyone admired. If you want some class then buy this with no worries and put the single seat conversion on it. Snatchy in town this baby is made for the open road, a posing vehicle guaranteed to draw admiring glances. Expensive for its size yes, but you get what you pay for and what you get is top class suspension, chassis and braking. Oh and those twin headlights and that exhaust note. I've spent twelve years on fast Japanese bikes. My present bike is a Triumph. So too is my next one. Show less

I have done 750 miles so still running in to 7000rpm. Loads of character & midrange makes town work fun. Handling is superb as are the brakes so twisties are better still. That nosecone thingy really works making cruising on motorways at high speed easy & deflecting the chill blast of winter from body & hands. This is no way as boring as a 4-stroke midrange 4 cylinder. Extras include a hugger, alarm, belly pan (no side cowls please), tank protector (small rubber Triumph), crash bobbins and a radiator guard. Loads of admiring from bikers, non-bikers and me! Buy one & have a hoot on every trip in any weather!! Show less
