I can't say enough good things about this bike. Handling and comfort is superb. This bike will do it all, short trips, weekenders and cross-country. The headlight is terrific, really luminates the road. I do get a high frequency vibration above 70 MPH or 4300 RPM. Is there anyone out there experiencing the same issue? If so, please send me an E-mail. Is this inherent to the bike? Does it smooth out after so many miles?, etc.

This bike is great. Handling and comfort is superb. Excellent all around bike. I have only one complaint. I get a high frequency vibration at 4300 RPM's or 75 MPH. My clutch went at 26k (18k miles), and I was told, it was my fault. Bike slips out of first into neutral, which can be unnerving when making left hand turns from a stop. Right Engine cylinder blew while travelling on highway, bike seized up and took 9 weeks to get spare part...from June 25 till end of August. No doubt this is a beautiful bike to look at, but I guess I got one made the day after the BMW company picnic. Currently in litigation with BMW as they say its all my fault and that I have misused my bike. Although I have been riding for 22 years, its my second BMW -- first was R100RT (that just went and went) and never experienced problems like this. I would welcome any comments from people who are experiencing the same or similar problems.

I recently purchased my r1100r. Up unitl eight weeks ago I never before rode a motorcycle. At first I must admit the bike intimidated me, however after a couple of weeks our relationship blossomed! Unlike you guys across the pond, Ireland's roads are peppered with mini grand canyons. The r1100r feels very sure even on the most challanging surface. Even if you've never ridden before I highly recommend this super machine. I hope to take my bike to the North West 200 in May. Anyone care to join me?

Bikes have the tendency to change lanes all by themselves with very little weight. Not this one. A little countersteering and attention and you can fly.

I bought my new 1150GS in October of 1999. Pre-ordered it with great anticipation. After being in the shop 5 times since then with less than 700 miles on the bike, i sold it in frustration. BMW corporate was no help to me in trying to get the problems with the bike resolved and I went through 3 dealers trying to get the bike fixed. My problems included the oil site guage blew out, had to replace 6 spark plugs and two fuel injectors and brake problems. When it briefly was in working order the bike was a joy to ride but the mandrin orange color should have been spelled L-E-M-O-N.

I and my better half decided that we would like to get into motorcycling. I figured that we would need space for two up - but not too close! - so I purchased a BMW. It was natural to go into that dealership, I knew it was the brand name I had to have. I thought about a Harley-Davidson, since I like to wear black leather, but I am more of a yuppie, so I again came back to BMW. I puchased this bike last fall, and this year I am going to ride it for sure. I didn't have my license to drive a motorcycle when the bike was delivered to me. All I could do was push it down the street a couple of blocks near a bank that has two-way glass on the outside. I park it on the street and then look at myself in the big mirrors. When I learn how to ride, I am sure I will be cruising down that street a lot. Maybe I could hire an escort that knows how to ride a motorcycle, and he could drive me up and down that street all night. Other than that, I know I paid too much for it, but the electric windshield really turns me on. I think I am sorry I bought the bike, I should stick to wine tastings, and evening dinners, like I was brought up to do.

I purchased a 1999 BMW K1200LT-I in November 1999 and I experienced numerous problems during the year I owned this machine. It's a good looking machine but goes down hill rapidly from there. As most have already stated it's difficult to put into first gear or maneuver at slow speeds. The brakes are annoying, it would heat up on hot days in slow moving traffic and the engine sounds harsh at low speeds. Getting up to speed it handles very well and the engine is silky smooth until you encounter a cross wind or need to pass. It's a good thing the windshield is adjustable because the standard setting is unsafe for the average rider. The communication system is in it's 3rd generation and still doesn't work properly. The CD Player never worked the entire year I had it but I apparently the shipping screws were never removed. The speakers were obviously the lowest grade they could find. I wasn't as fortunate as some to have a good dealership either. The two nearby dealers were feuding and complained about the poor service I would receive from the other. They were both right. It took 7 months to get an appointment to fix an Oil leak they caused on the 600 mile service and I was charged again. When I was told it would probably take 6 months to a year for the next Communication system to be developed I considered trading the K1200LT for an 1100RT. Thank you BMW Corporate for being so nasty and making me decide to never buy another machine labeled BMW. I purchased another Goldwing and can you say quality, no recalls, and superior service. To the guy thinking of trading his Goldwing, not unless you're buying the 1800.
