Well I have to say that overall my Big Dog experience has been far from issue free. But here is the most important part, C-U-S-T-O-M-E-R S-E-R-V-I-C-E!!! They fix things before they become a problem and if you do have a problem they are all about customer service! You know things go wrong no matter how great you build them. You start putting that much HP to the ground on a V-Twin and well there are a lot of unknowns EXCEPT when it comes to a big dog! I have had my Bike in for the recalls and I had some service that has had to be done but never an issue! My Mastiff has never left me on the side of the road, it always starts first kick and it looks like a million dollars and runs with or in front of anything on the road. I can cruise with the other V-Twins or run up and hang with the sport bikes if I want to! I have been riding since I was 6 years old and now I am in my late 30's. I have owned a lot of bikes. 2005 Big Dog Mastiff is by far the ultimate bike, head and shoulders above all others. I looked at Harley Davidson, Iron Horse, Rucker's, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda and many more before deciding. I am a Sales Engineer for a living so I know how to cut through the bs and that is why I bought a Big Dog Mastiff. Harley Davidson's are great cruiser bikes and crotch rockets are fun to ride (when you are young and limber) but Big Dog Mastiff is the best of both worlds! You get Pro-Street Performance, Cruiser comfort, style and it makes you look seriously cool! All that with a factory warranty and a company that is a real company, not a garage built one off bike. This is a real company owned by the Coleman family (Coleman camping equipment, which they sold and used the proceeds to start Big Dog) and they know what customer service & quality means! If you want a super high quality custom Bike with a factory warranty you can trust, along with the performance and comfort get a Big Dog you won't go wrong! The Mastiff is such an unbelievably comfortable ride and handles like a nimble minx; you would never guess you are riding on a super fat rear tire! My Wife loves riding on this bike because it is so comfortable on the rear suspension and it absorbs the bumps so nice. Like she says, if she can just keep me from giving all of her girlfriends rides, it would be the perfect bike! Big Dogs are not cheap, I mean that from the price stand point and the quality standpoint, but they are also not out of reach for the common man, if you can afford a Harley Davidson you can afford a Big Dog. Just remember, you get what you pay for. That means with Big Dog you get all the best High End Components right from the factory, to make a Harley Davidson perform like a Big Dog out of the crate you will spend another $10-$20K on top of the price of the bike. Buy a 2005 Mastiff you will not be sorry! Show less

Went to the local bike shop looking at a 2006 Mastiff and left with a 2006 K9! The Mastiff was awesome but the K9 left me breathless. The thing handles like a dirt bike. Easy to ride, incredible performance and with some pipes added, sounds tough. The design and detailing make for a beautiful bike. The service from my local BDM dealer has been phenomenal and I have no doubt BDM MFG is just as incredible. The only disappointing thing about this experience is the fact that this rating only allows me to give them an overall 5, cuz the K9 is easily a 10. Show less

I just purchased a 2007 K-9 and it is the smoothest riding cycle I've owned. I recently took a 100+ mile trip from D.C. to Pennsylvania and it was a joy - you'd appreciate the quiet 6th gear above 70+ mph. This machine felt better than my 2005 Harley V-Rod (Screamin' Eagle). My arms cramped a little toward the end of the trip but I'll take the cramp for this puppy! Acceleration is precise and cornering the fat 300 rear is just a mental thing-not as bad as critics claim by far. The K-9 is, by far, a fine cruiser and eye-candy to most. Show less

Bought used and ride it everyday. More power than you can use and engine just gives and gives. Handling is perfect and balance exceeds my expectations. Quality is very good and BDM has been excellent with customer service. Would like a more comfortable seat for rides over 400 miles, but day-to-day is just fine. Show less

I purchased my 2006 Big Dog Chopper in May and it has been awesome!! I have approximately 1200 miles on it and no problems what so ever. Performance has been great the Baker drivetrain is unbelievably smooth. When most people think "Chopper" they think uncomfortable and poor handling. With this bike that is far from true in fact it is very comfortable and fun to ride. The furthest I have gone in one day is about a 200 mile ride. You feel as if you are part of the bike instead of just sitting on it. The first day I test drove one I was doing slow tight turns without putting a foot down. The balance of the bike with the balanced right side drive is great! Quality with fit and finish is top notch. I recently had the opportunity to look at some Thunder Mountain Cycle Customs (basically Harley Customs) and the Big Dog in my opinion is much nicer and about 10,000 cheaper. If you want something to jump on, have fun and turn heads hear you go!! Show less

I rode a Harley Fatboy for 10 years and added about $10,000 in chrome and engine modifications to it and it paled in comparison to my 2004 Bulldog. The engine runs strong, it is comfortable and I have not had one mechanical problem. This bike is worth every penny when compared to a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Show less

Comming up on 1 year. What a trip. Love the bike, love the name, love the people who take care of her. No problems to complain about. I've had my K-9 for just a little over six weeks, and already put 3200 miles on. You can't do it if it's not comfortable. The ride is great and with the pillion pad and sissy bar my wife was able to go on a 300 mile, 1 day trip with me in relative comfort. The performance is more than I anticipated, the one drawback is stopping for gas. You can't get out of a station without at least a few pictures and lots of questions. Show less

Hey all...just an update, I had a big week last week riding...not that anyone cares, but took the GSXR and the BMW on a tour of the NC/TN/GA mountains...it was a gas!! Then, the highlight....I took the BIG DOG K-9 to Myrtle Beach Bike Week....road about 7 hours or so from Atlanta each way, rode everyday in the crowd.... it ran like a champ, is pretty darn comfy for a Chopper on a 7 hour drive....not even one tiny problem, and 150 miles to the tank!...**my friend rode a new IRONHORSE and he had pieces flying off everywhere!!! The k-9 was perfect...drew a crowd, lots of thumbs up.... BUY ONE! Windshield ain't too good,,,,but the bike is swweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Ride it, love it. Show less
