When it comes to day to day comuting and and even some weekend fun, this bike delivers. Lets start with the pluses. First and for most, this bike is very comfortable. The seat is broad and cushy, the reach to the handlebars is not far and there is plenty of room on the floor boards for leg movement to help with longer trips. The adjustable backrest helps out too. Wind protection is great for the most part. Second, the power from its 400cc single is quite suprising. Third, handling is superb for such an upright riding bike and the factory tires grip very well. I would almost say that it flicks back and forth through the twisties quite well but you find the centerstand pretty soon when pushing the bike's limits. Forth, the storage is freakin awesome. The bat cave that is under the seat will easily hold 2 full face helmets or 40$ worth of well placed groceries and the dash storage is very handy for many things as well. I can fit a 1 liter bottle of soda in the glove box it is so deep. Plus there is a 12v power outlet to charge your cell or anything else inside there too. The cons, The power is good but the CVT lacks enough top end to cruise long distance in my opinion. At an indicated 75 MPH the tach reads 7200 RPM and the redline is at 8500. Wind buffeting from the stylish shaped windshield requires the wearing of a helmet at minimum to save my eardrums from jumping out of my head. This bike is an excellent daily driver and errand runner for which I use it every day. It won't keep up with too many bikes but that's not what it was built for. This would make an excellent starter bike for many people to get used to riding.

Ok. I have to honestly say that this bike stock would have had more than enough power for me, but adding the Power Commander, and Brocks Alien Exhaust was an amazing option. I reccomend the exhaust very highly. Even with a 300mm tire on the back, this bike handles GREAT, and with a TWIST OF THE WRIST you will be flying. Amazing response, amazing power. Longest ride I have been on before stopping is 150 mile. I felt fine afterwards. Very nice ride. I would reccomend a fat tired busa to anyone. This bike will still take corners, and even at my size it will blow away any other stock bike.

This is my very first bike every. I have never ridden before nor have I ever ridden on the back of one. My friend talked me into buying this bike. I was scared of it at first because everyone told you have a lot of power and it is dangerous. I LOVE MY BIKE SHE IS THE BEST. She handles very well it's all about throttle control. She never came up on me the only thing is she is kind of tall I think I may need to have her lowered but she is wonderful. I feel safe when I am riding her I put her to the test because everyone wanted to tease me needless to say I left them far far far behind lol.

I can't believe so many folks think of the SV650 as a good beginner bike and nothing more. Sure, it would work well as a first street bike, but it is so much more than just that. I've been riding for 30 years and this is one of my all time favorite bikes. Yes, that's right, you heard me. I've owned trails bikes, cruisers, choppers, 1,000cc cafe racers etc. from singles to v-twins to in-line fours ad nauseum so I'm actually speaking from experience. The SV650 is a jack of all trades. It has enough torque for a great time at the track without having to wear out your shift lever. It corners like it's on rails and in the twistys it holds its own with higher revving bikes (in-line 4s). Sure they can rev up and leave you on the straights but who really rides for the straights? It's nimble handling lets it cut through traffic without effort and with the small fairing of the S model it does an admirable job on the highway. And last, but not least, if you really need to get arrested, it can do 120+ mph. If you need more power than that you are compensating for something. I have fallen in love with my 650s. Sure, the seat isn't the greatest but there is nothing else about this bike that needs alteration for most riders. Last but not least, here is a little verification for you: British Weekly Motorcycle News called it: The best bike ever for the real world. I couldn't agree more.

Usually when you purchase a new item, you'll find things (normally as time goes on) you will need to replace/upgrade. I was told by several that a 600, I would too slow and I would out grow it very quickly. My cousin owns a R1, which in my opinion is too much for my first ride. My cousin speaks very highly of Gixxers, so I was fortunate to run across a great deal. Anyway, I am extremely pleased... The only thing I would like to change will be the stock muffler exhaust. Only when fully throttle can I be heard. I am gonna change it soon!
