It's also lots of fun on twistys. You can tell I love this bike. The only thing better would be two Ducatis in the garage. Hmm... Maybe a 999R as bike #2.

I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first bike, a Ducati 620 monster. I wanted a classic "naked" motorcycle without a lot of frills, but one that stood out from the rest of these entry level bikes. Having never ridden a bike before (not even on the back of one), this was a little scary to say the least! After roughly 300 miles on this bright yellow Monster, I can attest to this bike being solid, reliable and a very easy bike to learn on (not to mention it sounds great and turns quite a few heads!). It shifts smoothly, handles very well, and is very easy to operate. If you're looking for a great and relatively inexpensive way to have fun or commute, this may be your ticket! I read a lot of reviews before buying this bike, and I hope this review helped someone out there get off the fence and start riding!

I bought my '03 M1000DS last September and rode it home the next day, clocking 500+ miles. It's not perfect but if you make mods (bars, seats, etc.) to make it fit you, you'll love the bike. This is my fourth Ducati and I get bored with bikes pretty quickly (six bikes in the last 4 years) and I can honestly say I plan on keeping this bike for many, many years.

After a long period of indecision between the Ducati Monster and the Kawasaki Z1000 I finally made a decision. At first I wanted the Ducati, then I heard a few ugly things about them, and decided to look elsewhere toward the Z1000. The Z1000 is faster and has a nice array of after market items, but the colors are horrible. The Ducati is slower and less comfortable but the design is superb, and the handling is incredible. It was a tough choice, but I don't regret going with the Ducati. Some people say the engine is underpowered, but I strongly disagree. Low and midrange perform well within, if not surpassing, the region of acceptability. However, it does top out around 120-125mph, so do not expect to keep up with your friend's GSX-R. Then again for what it's worth, I think it's worth a whole lot more than other bikes, and so will the women checking you out as you fly by.

A great piece of art that I don't even have to ride to enjoy-but I do. Great around town. Low seat height and comfortable riding position combined with real wide gearing make it easy to ride and zip around. Absolutely not a long distance bike for me!!! Vibration in the bars numbs my hand and power struggles after 85 mph. The Supertrapp makes it sound like a drag bike, but in a good way. Very little steering rotation so you lean a lot, but sometimes I drag my toes. My size overwhelms the suspension. A lot of rear tire slide at stoppping. Has been very reliable and easy to maintain. Valve adjustments on a 600 are very inexpensive.

I wanted to buy a bike; I was looking for a Harley. I was about to hand over the money for a Harley Sportster 855, when I noticed that it was simply, a one-person bike, which I would have to customize to make it a two-person bike. I was looking also at a Yamaha very nice looking very, very fast, but everyone had one of those. that's when I started to think more about the Ducati. So there I was...I was about to buy the Multistrada 1000. Excellent bike, but I started thinking about my car payments, house etc. that's when I decided to go for the Monster 620 i.e. I bought my Yellow Monster. Beautiful bike. (I choose that color so that people can see me from far away. don't get fooled by the small engine. It performs great. The best thing about this bike besides its handling. Is the respect other bikers give you. I when to one of those bars on Thursday nights where there were at least 100 bikes. All of them where Yamahas, Hondas, Suzuki's all Japanese bikes were there. I parked my bike and walked away. All these guys one by one walked to my bike and stared at it for minutes. I am not kidding, they have no shame on admiring it. My head grew so much I could not put my helmet back on :). Finally when I was about to leave this guy told me " You have the Lamborghini of motorcycles, the best bike of all of these" Imagine how I felt. Now 1,500 miles later, around the beaches and mountains of Puerto Rico I can tell you that I am very satisfied with my purchase, even thou I had to pay around 2k more that what you would pay in USA.

Great job Ducati!

Although I don't have a lot of experience in riding (just 3 months), I'm a quick learner and a keen observer. This bike is definitely stylish; that's not in question. Road handling is great, though keep in mind that I haven't ridden many other bikes, I've had no engine or other mechanical malfunctions, and performence is adequate. The only problem I can relate is the uncomfortable seat. Seems my crotch always ends up smashed against the tank. Aside from that, the bike is great. I can't wait to upgrade! The S4 is calling my name.
