I bought this bike after a 15-year absence from motorcycling. I've been closely following the XR ever since it came out, dealerships are pricing these bad boys to move. The motorcycle press gave the XR great reviews and I echo their comments. Good (not great)acceleration, straight-forward instrumention, effective brakes, nimble suspension, and sticky rear tire. I'm a 35-year-old that generally prefers sport bikes over cruisers, but this is a nice compromise. Mine is black and I have been having a hoot on it....definitely a grin producing bike.

This is my fifth bike, and as far as I'm concerned, it's the last bike I'll ever buy. What I mean by that is that it doesn't get any better than this; there's no bike out there that I'd rather have. Sure, the Electra Glides are supposedly nicer, but I have no desire for a full dresser bike. For...

For what I'm looking for. this is as good as it gets. As far as reliability goes, I've never had a major issue with any of my Harleys, and this one is no exception. All of the issues that I have had (relatively few, and minor as they were), were all handled by the dealer quickly and professionally. I had all the upgrades listed below installed before I took delivery of the bike, so I can't compare it's current performance to stock, but if the dyno-sheet is any comparison, there is no comparison. I'm putting down 107 lb./ft. of torque to the rear wheel, and that is just nuts. For such a big, heavy bike, this thing is really really quick. My last bike was a V-rod, so I know quick, and while it obviously isn't V-rod quick, it's impressive nonetheless. It pulls hard from 2.5k, all the way to redline, and does it all over again when you hit the next gear. In the comfort department, this is easily the most comfortable bike I've ever owned. The stock seat wasn't great, but I think I was a bit tall for it; once I got the tallboy seat on there, it fit me like a glove. I took it out for a four-hour ride the day after I replaced the seat, and I was amazed at how long I was able to ride without stopping to rest or stretch. I've ridden between Des Moines and Minneapolis with only a single stop, and that was for gas. There's a bit of wind buffeting with the low windshield, but it's not bad, and a shorter rider might not even notice it. As far as quality goes, I'm a Quality Assurance Engineer by profession, and I'm not easy to please. I couldn't find a single fit or finish issue on the bike when I took delivery, and that's saying something. When I bought my new jeep last year, it wasn't five minutes before I had found several issues needing attention by the dealer. I don't care what anyone says, the quality of a modern Harley is second to none. Overall, I love this bike more than is probably healthy. My only regret was that I had to trade in my V-rod to get it. If I could have kept them both, I would have.

When I first saw this bike on the dealer floor, I had to have. It fit me perfectly like an old jacket. The motor is smooth and vibration free. Fuel mileage is great if you ride normally. Spirited acceleration will dent your mileage considerably. The tranny could be smoother during shifting. Gear ratios are very well spaced. The seat is amazingly comfortable. With two up cruising, the ride is smooth and it handles additional weight with no issues. Build quality is very good as is the paint, pin striping and chrome finish. There are no oil leaks and engine oil use is nominal.

I have ridden a Road King for seven years and wanted a lighter sportier bike without traditional sportster issues. The rubber mount helps with the vibes. It has 3 disc brakes, tach and midmount controls, not to mention the bigger tank. I had to switch out the seat for a Mustang. Also, I added a...

It has 3 disc brakes, tach and midmount controls, not to mention the bigger tank. I had to switch out the seat for a Mustang. Also, I added a Supertrapp 2 into 1 to open up the top end. Now I ride it much more than the Roadking, that I use for 2 up and long rides. People comment it's not the traditional sports look but I think its one of the best looking sporties I have seen. Also, it will be a rare classic only made 1 year.

I have grown fond of my little XR. A suspension upgrade and taller windshield will be on Santa's list. It still corners well and has decent torque down low. I'm debating to keep or upgrade to Fat Bob with raised suspension and 103 motor!! It's a very good standard bike with Harley...

This is the best all-around standard bike available! At under 600 lbs., it is easy to maneuver around town but heavy enough to be comfortable on the highway. It's plenty quick and easy to handle. The paint job and chrome work are first class. You can customize it to your personal taste with...

The paint job and chrome work are first class. You can customize it to your personal taste with tons of aftermarket/Harley parts. Make no mistake, this is no "starter bike". I had a metric bike prior to this and while I enjoyed it, I like my Harley better. It has character, class, and a mechanical feel to it that to me is what a motorcycle should be.

The sound is ever so sweet and the look makes my sporty look more chopperish. I love it!

I put many miles on it last year riding from Kentucky to Ohio all the time. It has always started right up every time. I did have to have the rocker box gaskets replaced but Harley warrantied the parts and labor of course because of the awesome 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.
