This thing is a power house. Whether you want to drag race or burn up the twisties. Twist the throttle and you'll understand, wheelies are no problem. How does it handle and feel? Listen, forget about what you read. The 954 is the best handling liter bike on the market, period. I ride with a lot of 600's (GSXR/CBRR/F3) none of those bikes handle quite like the 954. On the other hand, all of the muscle heads at the gym ride GSXR1000's and R1's. Those bikes may be a little faster on the straights, but I only weigh 160 so I can keep up with all of them. In 1st gear the front end jumps off the ground at 4000rpm's. In 2nd, probably around 7000. This bike is for real. It's light, flickable, powerful, and damn good looking. Do yourself a favor and put on a slip on (two brother's for me), and buy yourself a steering stabalizer. After that, haul **S.

Have over 6000 miles on my silver CBR954, it is blazingly fast with laser-like precision in the corners. don't listen to those complaining about price. don't listen to those complaining about performance either--my bike broke in at 139hp, and with a few mods, my CBR is at gixxer horsepower (mid 140s), but with all of the CBR's handling advantages. I made a few modificatios to my bike that I would highly recommend to any 954 owner. 1)replace the steering head bearing per Honda recall, greatly helps the front end stability. 2)add a Sergent seat and Heli bars for everyday riding comfort 3)replace the heavy, performance hindering stock exhaust (Two Brothers slip-on in my case) 4)install a Power Commander to complete the addition of 6 hp, letting the PC bring the power in lower on the curve for the 954s short stroke motor--A MUST FOR PERFORMANCE 5) let Traxxion Dynamics revalve your forks and replace your stock rear shock with one of their Penskes--YOU WON"T BE SORRY FOR DOING THIS!!, trust me, it's well worth the investment 6) For looks, I installed a Hotbodies undertail, graphic Art Moto flushmount turnsignals, Oberon footpegs and Mototechnic framesliders. I haven't exactly had anyone zing past me with this setup, and don't expect to either, especially in the twisties...

I am 5'10 190lbs. I ride agressively...but will also do a few 300+ mile days in a row. My needs, a super agressive bike that can still be ridden five days straight through the blue ridge mountains. Tested, the usual suspects: GSXR1000, R1, RC51. Basically, all the other bikes could be ruled out...and the 954 came out on top. Did not test the Duck as I think ROI is not there. RC51 is not comfortable for me (same with R1), Better handling than the the Gixxer. The 954 has the most comfortable ergonomics (seat is not great), plenty of ponies (I can lift the front tire in second with ease, and have gone head to head in roll on with the gixxer and there is not clear pull away), laser like steering and very quick turn in. I have owned a VFR and CBR900rr in the past. This bike is a bit high strung (front end feels a little twitchy...and feedback from the road is constant. That said, IMHO, this is the best literbike out there. The gixxer will beat it in the straight, but I think the 954 takes it in the twisties where it counts. That said, the 954 took it over the gixxer by a nose. Had I needed to do wheelies, burners, etc and just wanted to drag and screw around...I would have gone with the 1000. I do not have brand loyalty and I had the opportunity to buy any of the bikes.

All you have to do is look where you want to go and the bike starts falling right into the turn. I have riden a GSXR1100 and a CBR900RR, and neither one compares with this bike. The smaller, high powered 600's no longer have an edge in the corners with my 954RR.

The 954 quietly is the best superbike on the market. Unfortunately it will always be overshadowed by the GXR's power and the R1's looks. But in the end the power difference is minimal compared to the handling difference and as far as looks go...put a fender eliminator on and its just as hot as the R1. The bike is a bit twitchy but then with so much HP from a 4 stroke what do you expect. The only thing about this bike is the price. If Honda would drop the MSRP people would buy more fireblades. Simply put if your an experienced rider and want the most competitive all around bad ass muscle bike..the CBR954RR is the one!! Sorry GXR but I like going fast in twisties more than straights.
