I get real good acceleartion and on a straight stretch I can get 40 mph. Maybe the rest of America will wake up when gas is $5.00 per gallon and ride these to work. Look at the fuel savings for 1 week !!! By the way, I haven't even put $4.00 in fuel with 480 miles on the odometer!!!

I just got my little Metro a week ago and as I was riding it home, I saw two other people on their Metros and they gave me a quick "beep beep", (I made my first metro friends). I bought this scooter from my co worker with 850 miles two months ago. I have since passed 2200 miles in the last month. I live in southern Utah, on the edge of the Mojave Desert. I am a little bigger than the average scooter rider, at 230 lbs. but I still get going at 35-40 mph. Just enough not to get pulled over.

Enjoying the scooter tremendously so far. Have not had any problems at all. Can reach speeds of 60Km/h (40MPH) and it doesn't seem to bother the engine very much. Acceleration from a stop is fine, similar to the acceleration of most cars off a stop when they are not in a hurry. I live in Montreal and there are a lot of potholes in this city and this Honda handles them pretty well. I have to climb a steep hill for about 100 meters everyday on my way to work and the scooter handles it OK - the engine does work harder, but I don't know how this compares with other scooters. Some reduction in speed, but only slight. This is not a super high performance scooter - remember it's a 50cc 4 stroke - but it's amazing on gas: 30Km/litre (80MPG) and has a very comfortable seat. It is VERY quiet compared to some of the other 2 stroke scooters on the street. The engine itself has many aluminum pieces on it and is liquid cooled and it's a 4 stroke so I suspect it will last a really long time (I've only had it for 700KM so I can't speak from experience). Things I like less about this scooter is that most of the "chromed" pieces are just plastic (almost the entire exterior is plastic) and there is no standard rack on the back. There are anti-theft protections on this scooter but I would lock it to something solid if possible as the scooter can easily be picked up by 2 people and put into a van or truck. It's a great scooter for first timers who live in a city and it looks great.

I purchased my 2003 Juice Metro at the tail end of 6 week transit strike, and even though the buses are again rolling, I've only ridden the bus twice on two very wet mornings. My scooter gets me the same distance 10 minutes quicker, and my schedule is my own. Even at $2 a gallon for gas, it's working out to about $1 a day to cover gas, insurance, and scheduled maintenance. Factor in the cost of the vehicle itself, and I'm still about $4 to $4.25 for the first two years. that's almost a dollar less than the bus. I ride a minimum of 24 miles a day, 12 each way. I also use it for short and long hops around town, for which it is perfectly suited. My only gripe is that I have to ride at full-throttle most of the time since it tops at about 35 mph. My other gripe is that I'll only be able to use it from April to October, but that's the fault of a Minnesota winter, and nothing to do with Honda!

My husband and I made a compromise. We were in the market for a new car, and being the girlie-girl that I am, I wanted a VW Beetle. He couldn't see paying that much for what was essentially a VW Golf in cute clothing, so he agreed that we could take the money we would save over the Beetle to buy the Honda Metropolitan (called the Honda Jazz in Canada). This was purely an impulse buy. I went into the dealer and walked out with it less than two hours later. It is a comfortable ride for me and for my 6' 250 lb. husband (although his knees sometimes bump against the handlebars). If you're a well-padded girl (or boy), be confident in that the Metropolitan/Jazz will safely carry up to 277 lbs (including cargo, accessories). The scooter feels solid - more solid than I expected. The throttle has a surprising amount of pep, but even at slow speeds it's a pleasure to drive. I was told that driving slow and maintaining balance on a scooter was pretty difficult, but even when only going 10 Km/h (about 7 mph), the scooter balanced well and didn't feel shaky. This is the perfect vehicle for me - excellent gas mileage, a true city vehicle for city driving, and just too cute for words. I bought the "Juice" (orange) 2004 Jazz, and I plan to drive it and enjoy it for many years to come.
