I've had this Katana 750 motorcycle for about 3 months and I must say I'm very happy with it. It is a very comfortable bike that's extremely easy to ride with plenty of power and speed. Sure it can't pull wheelies in the first four gears, but it definately does have more than enough power(and then some)to jump you ahead of traffic and keep you there. I choose the katana over those other pocket racer bikes because it is a larger heavier sports bike and that's what I wanted. And believe me it does make quite a bit of difference especially on those windy days. Since I got my bike I've received nothing but compliments on how nice my bike looks and I must say I do agree! It's a shame that this is the last year Suzuki will make this model bike. I'm just glad I was fortunate enough to get one.

This is a great starter bike. I put 7k miles on mine in about 8 mo. Not too much get up and go for newbies. It forgives mistakes. Can still keep up with more sportier bikes too. won't be able to out do them, but you won't be left too behind either. Comfy as a couch too. When you're ready for... read more

The handleing is great and for the money you simply can't beat it. For most other bikes the powerband isn't until the higher rpm's where the Katana has a smooth powerband through out the rpm range. You simply can't beat it.

The carb. diaphrams are just getting tiny holes in them now, so will have to renew them soon though. It's a great, fun bike. I've owned it for 14 years now and ride it every work day(5 days a week). I also go for a blast with some friends over some local hills and usually either beat them to the top or at least chase them fairly closely. The early ones (my model) have solidly mounted discs and calipers, and can after some years have some problems with sticky pistons. Still, they work OK for me. It still does approx.65 miles to the N.Z. gallon. A very reliable bike. I wish I could buy a new one, but I still have my children living at home. My daughter loves to go for a blast with me though, I think she has the 'Biker Bug' too maybe!

It you can handle the weight this is an awesome sport/touring bike.

I have done some custom graphics work on it, and I am constantly getting compliments on the bike. This bike is plenty fast (for me), I have had it up to 105 easily, and it is said it will max at 135, although I don't intend to take it there. It may not be a Gixxer, but it is a quick accelerator none the less. I like the way it handles, it is so smooth in the turns. I have been on long distance rides and it is very comfortable due to the thickly padded seat and upright riding position. I can ride for at least 3 hours before I start feeling like I want to take a break. I don't know if I would recommend this as a beginners bike, I might recommend the 500 for that. This is a great all around bike for most people. With a frame longer than the GSXr's, it is great for tall people too. I also like the touring style of it versus the hard angles of most of the 'race' class sportbikes. Overall, I'm very happy with this bike.

Like I said this is my first bike, so I can't compare it to others. The price was right, a 2000 Katana 750 with 7012km's for $4500.00 you can't go wrong for a first bike and not a scratch on it! Friends of mine cannot believe it's a 2000 they all think I bought a brand new bike. Cheers!

I've done 115 mph and it still had plenty of juice to go (on a track). A lot of people complain about the fairings, but they provide excellent protection against the elements and small road debris. On windy days, just tuck and it cuts through the wind with no problems. my only complaint is lack of aftermarket products such as solo-seat cowls, undertails, etc... they are hard to find. you can ride sitting up or in a full tuck; overall, I'm very happy with my kat.

I do have a problem with the neutral/2nd gear meshup (I have adjusted the clutch and paid attention to the way I shift, hmmm). I can say the stock seat is great for rides less than 100 miles, it is good for 200 miles or less. Buy the Corbin Gunfighter it will be the best $270(US) you will spend. I am about to buy a jet kit because it is running lean and the turbo I am eventually going to put on is not going to like the current fuel mixture. I run with liter bikes and can keep up and surprise the pilots. Keep the RPMs above 6k and feather the brakes in turns while staying on the throttle. The big boys don't give me too much bolgna. Oh, I always outlast them on the long rides. I don't go to the chiropractor. I don't fill up as often. My insurance is lower. I can thrill my girlfriend on a long ride. My liter friends cannot say that about their rides.
