2007 Triumph America

5.0
Bought it in March 2007; just got it out of the 500 miles first service from the dealer (great guys, honest, modest and reliable). I started riding in May 2006 (age 47, never too late...) on a 2006 Honda Rebel 250 (too small), moved to a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 800A (great bike) and than to the...

I started riding in May 2006 (age 47, never too late...) on a 2006 Honda Rebel 250 (too small), moved to a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 800A (great bike) and than to the Triumph. What can I say, life is good. Triumph handles like butter - smooth engine, very quiet for a chain driven bike, very easy in twists and turns, comfortable seat (rode 2.5 hr's w/out stopping and not the slightest fatigue), wide handlebar, etc etc. I will update this review as I put on more miles. Unfortunately the weather turned cold again so I can't ride as much as I'd like to. The only complaint is that there is some vibration felt through the grips - I will replace them with grips that have more substance on them.

I just picked up my America today and rode it home about 45 miles in the rain. It rode beautifully and I have no complaints. In town it was a blast to ride as it was nimble, the clutch feel was excellent pulling away from stoplights hard, and the brakes have a good feel to them. The best thing...

In town it was a blast to ride as it was nimble, the clutch feel was excellent pulling away from stoplights hard, and the brakes have a good feel to them. The best thing about the bike in town is the clutch. It has the best feel of any cruiser I have ridden thus far. Out on the road in the rain I was cruising about 80 at just under half throttle. The wind did not push the bike around like I expected it to. So far so good.

Bought this bike after many long hours/days/months of looking at Yamahas, Suzukis, Hondas, Kawasakis, and Harley's. All had nice bikes but I kept coming back to the Triumph America. It fit me like a glove and handled real nice. It is not the fastest bike but plenty of power to keep me smilin' (I...

It fit me like a glove and handled real nice. It is not the fastest bike but plenty of power to keep me smilin' (I am not a speed demon!!). The look of the bike is beautiful (I have the Goodwood Green color which looks similar to British Racing Green), I get comments everywhere I go, I have even had drivers in cars roll their windows down and comment.

Excellent cruiser! Bought it last May and have 29K miles on it. Rode it to the coast in August (half of the trip winding mountain two-lane highway) and stayed in top gear the whole way there. I get about 42-45 mpg around town and 50-52 on the highway. It frequently gets compliments from people when...

I get about 42-45 mpg around town and 50-52 on the highway. It frequently gets compliments from people when I park it. Most ask about the restoration (LOL) and how long it took. This bike is so smooth running and real pleasure to ride, too. I love this bike!!!

The bike is everything I wanted in a bike, the power, the handling, the weight, and definitely the look. Mine is all black, I couldn't wait on the Mulberry, just had to have the bike then. I wasn't even aware the old Bonnies were still being made, pulled up behind a guy riding one at stoplight,...

The bike is everything I wanted in a bike, the power, the handling, the weight, and definitely the look. Mine is all black, I couldn't wait on the Mulberry, just had to have the bike then. I wasn't even aware the old Bonnies were still being made, pulled up behind a guy riding one at stoplight, flagged him down, looked at the bike, talked to him, and literally bought the America the very next morning. I have always wanted a Bonnie ever since I was a kid, but this is a Bonnie with some attitude which is even better. The guys I ride with are all Harley guys, they even are green with envy, oh they rib me about how quiet it is, but they love it too. And I can outrun them, or at least I could before putting on the windshield, that may have changed now. The bike does need some noise, not a lot, but it's just too quiet, I'll be changing pipes right away. Triumph did it right, I've had zero problems, and have had lot of looks and stares, and when fueling it up, I get a lot of conversation. A great classic bike with some balls.

Having owned and riden Triumph's most of my life, (I'm 52 now) what to buy wasn't the question, it was which one. I went with the America for a cruiser. It has surpassed my expectations. My complaints....too quiet, cold natured and the air injector system has to go.

Bought the 2006 for my 50th. My first bike. I always wanted a classic "look" bike and both the wife and I loved the look of the America. Classic lines, handles great, and rides smooth. Riding gives me a great sense of freedom. The "wind in hair" factor was a stong pull for me to buy a bike. The...

Riding gives me a great sense of freedom. The "wind in hair" factor was a stong pull for me to buy a bike. The "look" of the Harley's didn't do anything for me and when I test drove a HD Sportster, I didn't like the balance of the bike, or the extra growl (which, I understand is a big HD draw).

I have the 04 America. My wife has an 06 Harley Davidson/Street bob. The Triumph is so much smoother. The HD rides like a 40s thrashing machine. It shakes at idle and shimmys at speed and is so heavy. The Triumph with 790cc can just about keep up with the 1450cc HD, due to the better engine design...

The HD has been in the shop 6 times in 500 miles. The Triumph only has been in twice. Both for schedualed maintience. The Triumph is a great all around bike. It out handles, out brakes and out classes her Harley in every way.
