I just test rode one. Good power in the upper rev range. I was at 90mph before the end of the short on ramp. Very stable at high speed. A bit to much weight on the wrists for me, but I'm use to cruisers. This also goes away above 40mph. Cool bike, but I think I would like the Triple better for the...

on a recent visit to a motorcycle show where i saw the various offerings from around the world, i was drawn to the looks of the speed 3. a massive back tyre hinted of things to expect. on the way home i dropped into a local dealer, and as if fate was directing me, a year old roulette green 955i had just been traded. mint with run in miles on the clock. in half an hour it was mine. the handling is so good i was scraping the exhaust in no time. progression of power is awesome. it is also a license saver as over 110mph is unpleasant, the backup i have had from triumph left me a permanent fan. out of warranty failure, free of charge, i was very pleased. if you like airtime it gives a hack like me feelings of ability. if i ever sell it, i will buy another. i would reccomend the stickiest tyres you can get. other than that its spot on. i get 2k on a back tyre, i dont know of any fun fair ride that is this mutch fun or amuses for so long. have you guessed i love it.!

I bought a 2002 Speed Triple and now have 8500 miles on it. The 955cc engine has awesome sound, and smooth with power at any rpm. It has tons of torque and will annialate any rear tire, and wheelie like hell. Good riding position I have rode for over 8 hours at time with no wrist/back pain. ...

It has tons of torque and will annialate any rear tire, and wheelie like hell. Good riding position I have rode for over 8 hours at time with no wrist/back pain. Kind of windy though due to no fairing, the seat is hard though. It will destroy the crotch 600's, but gets a little hairy on the corners due to handle bar and no clip ons. This is great bike, but not a good first bike to start on. This is my first bike, I would say now i prolly should have started somthing smaller... Buy it is cool, strong and oh ya save some money for those rear tires the don't last long!!! ;)

A friend of mine bought 2002 Speed Four, and I bought 2002 Speed Triple. I have rode them both alot. The Speed Four is a great handling bike, not quite as fast as like the cbr's r6 bikes but much more fun. Mainly cause wheelies are so easy, and totally different styling. It is just fast as my triple if not faster on the really tight cornering. But when the road opens up or anything over 100mph the triple eats it up. Overall this Speed Four has been good bike trouble free and just a lot fun!! Plus cheap insurance cause no one has one!!

The 2001 Speed Triple is potentially ideal for real road riding, but is let down by a few flaws. The suspension is as hard as nails and on bumpy roads this slows you down. The 2001 Speed Triple is potentially ideal for real road riding, but is let down by a few flaws. The suspension is as hard as nails and on bumpy roads this slows you down. If the suspension was more compliant, you could cover the ground faster and not get bumped out of the seat so much. Why Triumph fitted springs stiffer than an unladen goods van is hard to guess. The engone is a real peach, and Triumph did an excellent job here. Having travelled from Dublin to Paris, the bike does need a screen which is more useful than Triumph's own aftermarket thingy. It's hard to find a screen for this model that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The 2001 model has slower steering than the 2002 model but this good for stability. All in all, not a bad bike and could become a great one with a few sensible mods. And it really is a looker.

Alot of looks and conversation at the local twisties. Great Bike!

Both problems were repaired under warranty and at no cost with minimal waiting time for my bike. I put on D&D exhaust and replaced the stock mirrors with Napolean bar end mirrors. I really love this bike. It has plenty of power and handles extremely well. I would highly recommend it to anyone. The build quality is impressive and Triumph stands behind their products - as do their dealers. Triumph kicks ass!

I just can't say enough about this bike. This is my third review for you readers out there who might be remotely interested in a speed triple. I've put 6,000 trouble free miles on it. Need to take her in for the required routine maintenance. My dealer told me it would coast about $100. No valve adjustment necessary just check the fluids and other critical points. I ride as often as my schedule allows and this bike makes the wait worth every minute. The speed triple gets more comfortable to ride as the miles pile up. I guess you could say that it is maturing nicely. At one point I think a casual cruise returned 59 mpg. The saddle and riding position (for me) allows me to travel about 100 miles before its time for a break. After having placed the optional fly screen on the bike, you can cruise at 70 mph in relative comfort. It is quite remarkable in its ability to divert wind away from my upper torso. I do wear earplugs to protect my hearing and lessen the fatigue from wind noise. It all adds to a more enjoyable riding experience. Am I a speed triple fanatic? I don't think so. I have owned three other motorcycles that impressed me this much. In no particular order they were: 1981 Kawasaki GPZ 550, 1978 Honda Goldwing, 1985 Kawasaki GPZ 900. The longest trip I ever took was on the little 550. All these bike were dead reliable and fun to ride. Each filled a niche that needed filling at the time. The speed triple is filling that need for me now. I currently enjoy the uniqueness of riding the only speed triple in town. The only other one is up for sale at the Triumph dealer. Even the "big three" motorcycle magazines tout this bike as being the most versatile machine in the Triumph lineup. Yet, they still don't sell in this area. It boggles the mind. I have been getting the urge to get a sport touring bike. Think I'll invest in the new Triumph trophy. Rumors have it that the machine will have 1300 cc's and a shaft drive. Will I trade in the triple. Not a chance! There is room in my drive way for both bikes. My dealer loves me. Good luck in your purchase and happy motoring!
