I bought a Sprint ST after riding cruisers for a long time. I was very nervous about giving up my 1500 CC, 730 pound, rumbling V Twin for a light, but fast ride and felt that I would miss that rumbling feeling. After a couple of weeks of riding the ST, I now know what I have been missing for so many years. The ride gives you a rush of adrenalin unlike anything else you may have felt on a cruiser. The handling is buttery smooth as well.

I ride mine to work every day, have almost 23K miles on it and have not had a problem yet. It starts up and runs great in all weather conditions, from temperatures in the low 30s to the 100s. On weekend trips, you can keep up with almost any sportbike rider in the twisties (as long as you know when to pull your feet up), but at the end of a 300K mile day you'll feel no pain and be ready for more. No need for handlebar risers or a taller windscreen. Insurance rates are low, I'm only paying $330 a year (quotes for sportbikes usually run me at least $2000). On the negative side, the bike feels a bit heavy until you get used to it, and the fuel guage is almost useless (but the fuel light works fine). No real complaints: 4 out of 5 is my highest rating for anything. Check out some of the Triumph accessories, the Sympatex gloves and TriTech boots are well made, waterproof and comfortable.

I have always been partial to the Triumph line because they aren't Harleys and they aren't "Rice Rockets". But, this bike is a lot more than just an alternative to the status quo. I had been riding a Thunderbird, but decided that I needed something a little more destination oriented. The first time that I sat on an ST at the dealership I immediately noticed the lower center of gravity and 50 pounds less weight. Upon firing the bike up, the unique (lower) pitch of the 3 cylinder was also obvious. A quick ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway was all it took. The horsepower is exhilarating and hooking curves is a thrill. The bike corners like it is on rails. The fairing provides great stability and permits comfortable cruising (tucked in behind the windshield) at 80+ MPH. don't know what goes on over 100 MPH. Some might take a star off because of the more sport than touring riding position, but, I prefer the sport attitude of the bike. Yes, hands get numb/sore, but that occurs on long stretches of straight highway. Put the bike on a two lane with lots of curves and sore hands are no longer a factor. The major Japanese manufacturers may make a bike that is more nimble, but, I have yet to see a better looking sport bike. If you are looking for a touring bike, get one. If you are looking for an excellent, reliable, great looking sport bike with the ability to carry you, a rider and some gear a long way... get an ST.

Let me start by saying that I flew from FL to TN (700miles) to pick up my new 2003 ST, couldn't pass up the deal (especially the FREE ((thanks triumph) hard bags), I was also looking forward to putting this SPLIT PERSONALITY bike to the test! OK I am over 40 years old and have had 3 back operations in the past 12 years, so I was crazy to attempt such a trip without a safty net ( trailer), I broke the trip up into 2 days, but if I had to do it in one day I would have been able to!! This bike not only hauls ass it does so comfortably!! Ever since 1997 I had wanted a Daytona 955i (YELLOW as if there is any other color), but hte more I looked into the Sprint ST the more I began to realize that a 100% sportsbike wasn't going to be a pratical choice, I have the best of both worlds. Thanks TRIUMPH for making such a great bike, and if you want to call it a touring bike, you go right ahead, with the improved HP increased to 118, I think I know what it really is, a SPORTSBIKE w/ touring ability!

I bought this bike in February 2000, and I have been in love ever since. I had a Ducati 851 which had looks, sounds, and handling, but had awful ergos and slow speed manuvers were just scary. The Sprint has looks (I get positive comments EVERYWHERE I go), sounds wonderful, handles very well, and is comfortible. I ride it to work five days a week on a 40 mile loop. On weekends I take it canyon riding. I added a Staintune hi-pipe, short stalk clear lense rear signals, Triumph rear hugger, Zero Gravity light smoke Double Bubble, hub ammo, new factory FI map, K&N filter , I removed the snorkles and metal divider in the airbox, and frame sliders. I have been getting 52-53mpg, and I do not baby my bike. It has never done anything but run perfectly. I have 15,000 miles on the ODO. I'm on the original clutch, the chain was replaced at 14,000 miles(sprockets still look new), The valves needed NO adjustment at 13,000 miles, and I am running a set of Bridgestone BT-010's. I am on my second 200-50-17 rear. It fits perfectly due to the six inch wheel, and lots of clearence. I got 4,500 miles out of the last rear, and about 8,000 out of the front. I can buy any bike at any time to replace my Sprint ST, but I can't see any reason to part with such an all around great bike. Of course an MV Agusta F4 as a second bike would perfect!

With the factory rear trunk it's a fantastically flexible machine. Great torque for the real world, not too heavy, nimble in traffic, more top end than any sane person needs on the street. I've taken several 700 mile trips on it and am extremely satisfied. Wish it had self-cancelling turn signals and a ram-air system to let it breathe cooler. Otherwise no faults, would buy another one in a heartbeat.

my bike is actually a 2001. Fun bike, pretty smooth & fast enough. Been great up until last week. The problem was the bike developed a rather bad fuel leak. I have heard similar reports on this site and in talking to techs, they don't seem suprised. Rate of leak was quite disturbing and was so bad I had to park outside until it could leak itself out. Since I bought the bike the dealership in my area was sold and the new dealer dropped the line so nearest dealer for warranty work is 100 miles away. Dealer told me my problem to get it to them, but since it is not safe to drive this is a major hassle. Called Triumph (U.S.) and at first they had no good solutions, but am still working with them. I'll post how it goes later but I am not optimistic.

After nearly 6000 miles only problem was a defective clutch cable covered by warranty. Riding around town or 50 mile runs in the boonies is great fun for long distance though I highly recommend a better seat (I am 54 years old and have a sensitive butt. Also the taller shield is a real plus for 70mph plus all day rides.) I went over my bike the day I purchased it with a fine tooth comb everything was tight and right. Fast, comfortable and cool bike.

The on problem I have and I am not sure if others have the same problem but the darn plastic fuel quick connects crack and break with no provocation.. I am looking at getting metal replacements and that is the only grip I have. Triumph needs to spend a little more on the little things they think won't matter as they usually do. Other than that the Triumph Sprint RS is the best bike I have ever Owned in verisital and fun, with good otpions from the get go.
