I've been riding for over 54 years. From off road woods machines, motocross, hair scrambles, standard modified 70's street, sport bikes, adventure, and so on. I was introduced to the GS style 25 yrs. ago. Long story short; this is my 4th GS. This bike I picked up after having a 2014 GS. The... read more

I was introduced to the GS style 25 yrs. ago. Long story short; this is my 4th GS. This bike I picked up after having a 2014 GS. The 2012 is the most reliable bike that BMW ever made. It's the K25 engine that is bullet proof. The handling and performance are equal to anyone that wants to ride; not show. This machine is made for miles and really don't want to let it go. It will take you anywhere with a want to do it again.

Motorcycle with lots of power and fun to ride. Not as maneuverable as a dirt bike but still very capable on gravel roads and double tracks. I rode the Smokey Mountain 500 on this bike and had no problems crossing creeks or on the yellow loop. Some parts of the yellow loop were at the limit of my skills on this bike (muddy and rutted climb and single track section). Getting to the start of your off road adventure is a breeze. I have no problem with the fact that it has no traction control, you just have to control your wrist, that’s all the traction control you need.😂

Hands down the best bike I've ever owned and I've been riding for 40 years. This IS the bike for everything, on road, off road, two up or solo it climbs hills like a Billy goat and cruises at 80MPH without breaking a sweat. I've crossed rivers with fully loaded painters and been coast to coast on this bike. I don't like the NAV6 Garmin GPS. I've replaced it 3 times, each time it seems to work for a year or so then flakes out, i don't think it can handle any moisture which is pretty silly on an adventure bike. All in all however its a tremendous piece of machinery.

I bought this R1200GSA motorcycle when a friend sold it to me nearly six years ago. I took his word that it it is the best on the market, and I agree with him. It can do it all: Touring (2 up too), Virginia twisty mountain roads, gravel roads, and off road. Took the Pine Barrons Dirt 101 course with it in NJ and it performed remarkably. (While it can handle anything, I don't think I'll attempt single track or deep sand with it again though!) Did over half of the Mid-Atlantic BDR on it, and it was great. Finally, maintenance: this bike is easier to maintain than any of the Japanese bikes I have owned. Get a GS-911 tool and you are set. There are so many places now where you can get parts and not pay full BMW prices. I'm selling my GSA now because my long, big bike ADV rides are done due to back issues, so I'm sticking to the asphalt, and going a little smaller and newer...with a GS 1250. I'm forever hooked.

I decided to hand in super sport and give adventure touring a try. So far it is pretty comfortable and smooth. At higher speeds (85mph+) it can feel pretty unstable. A couple days after picking it up out of the show room and a proper break in my wife an I did a 1200 mile trip quite please with the comfort and ride ability of the machine. My only complaint is the luggage racks/engine protection bars don't seem to be treated with any anti corrosion. I would expect premium everything with the price tag they have on them. within 2 months of getting it out of the show room I have noticed corrosion occurring where the racks mount to the bike. I keep/maintain my machine as if they were my kids so seeing that happen is a bit much. Over all on point and a great buy. would be better if the bike didn't seem like it was ready to be reclaimed by mother earth though.
