When I went looking for a replacement I was looking at F650 BMWs, Big BMW GS's, etc. I knew about the Caponord and saw a few for a good price. I did a lot of reading, research etc. But when I looked at bang for the buck, a 2-3-year-old Capo with 7k miles on it looked like a reasonable choice. It's quick enough for me, fun to ride, unusual, looks good, comfortable, runs down the interstate all day, carves up a back road, hauls all of my stuff, etc. One poster mentioned dealer support. There is truth to that. If you want a bike you can ride, to a dealer and drop off like your car, don't buy an Aprilia. I order my parts through AF1 and it has been effortless and painless. They also have a great owners' forum. I do my own work and the Rotax engine is solid and pretty straight forward. Remember, this bike (aside from the bodywork, etc.) is a collection of parts from well-known vendors. If you look at BMW these days, we can't keep a dealer in town, and the long term quality/reliability is not what it used to be. (I have three BMWs and still have a K-Bike) Is an Aprilia Caponord for everyone? No. The only reason I would say no is the lack of a nationwide dealer network. I find this to be a shame as it is a well thought out bike with solid design and performance.

It is a great bike, comfortable riding position, and man does it pull. It can easily make a 21 year old out of a 30 something-plus man. A complete hooligan bike which can also cruise city streets. If you have not straddled an Aprilia, make it a point to do so!

Of all the bikes I have owned over the last 28 years this is the one that puts the biggest smile on my face. No bike has the combination of power, handling, comfort, styling, reliability, and looks. Until something better comes along I won't consider selling it.

It was soooo hard to keep it under 6000 RPM those first miles, but the huge torque and relative smooth-running at low rev's helped immensely. Then 7500 rev's for another little bit. Took 10 days of after-work evenings to break it in; just could not get back on my Ducati ST3 without feeling it was an unrefined beast. The Tuono is now THE ONE for solo rides and such a pleasure in the twisties. Not a single issue with it... the lack of a fuel gauge was at first, but a few tanks later you get confidence in the range between petrol stops. The tires (Metzlers) are superb, albeit a bit too soft for lots of road miles (it is, after all, a track machine it would seem). Must slow down as 140 MPH feels soooo good on this baby. The multi-function display is easy to read, easy to use, and keeps tack of all the important stuff. Now I want the RSV Mille!

I put full pipes and chip on her and she flies, stiffen up the suspension and she flat cooks in the canyons. I chased and blew by a 999 with full bags, camping gear and pillon. The guy couldn't believe it! Jack up the rear preload and the stand doesn't drag. All day comfort, realibility, and PHENOMENAL handling! I have a K5 gixxer 1000 and my RST is just as good in the canyons. A fantastic bike!

I bought this bike new five years ago. I very nearly bought a Honda Firstorm as I wanted a softer sports bike with a little more comfort. I'm not sorry I bought the Aprilia Falco, it's been absolutely reliable. A minor problem being a replacement side stand switch which was under warranty. The original clutch was a little weak so I fitted a Barnett race clutch - not necessary, but it's much better. I also upgraded the rear shock for more comfort. Apart from this, the bike has been almost perfect. I have ridden this bike in all weather and it still looks good after a wash. Many riders have been amazed by the way this bike goes and often beats more expensive super bikes, I just don't understand why Aprilia didn't clean up with this beautiful designed V-twin, could it have been better? Maybe, but not at this price. I'm a very satisfied owner and I can't bare to part with it. Faults: only one bad really, that's the nasty cheap bendy side stand.

This bike will give you that major grin factor every time you ride it. It is a highly tuned superbike in an upright package that is flat out thrilling to ride. Right out of the gate it has major torque and just keeps on pulling to well over 9k RPM. Ride and suspension are tight and responsive, in fact a little stiff on slow street rides. I have owned a Ducati Monster and test rode the new Ducati's: 999,S4RS Monster and 1000 Multistrada. One ride on the Tuono R and its all over, you will be hooked!
