2002 Yamaha Sport Bike reviews

Run after run...this '02 R1 still holds its own extremely well. It's seen later R1's, ZX's, GSX's come and go that still haven't surpassed its unbelievable low/mid range torque. Some prefer coffee in the morning for a kick, but this machine offers one screaming intense rush of adrenaline, all while maintaining a civil posture on the road. This much low-end power, combined with the near 600 class size frame and generous mid-range, is well suited to stay out front of the pack long enough to make the others feel silly, staring at your backside and giving it everything they have to catch up. Only those that have owned one and truly put it to the test can understand how unique this set-up really is. Show less

This bike is awesome with all the free mods done. It has a ton of power. It's very dependable and starts very easily with the compression thing. It's great for trails and fits me well for how tall I am. It runs just like a YZF with lights and wide ratio transmission. Show less

A very nice bike. Awesome for the trails. A little heavier than my XR200 but is also a little faster. Only thing is that it doesn't have a kickstart. Show less

My best bike by far. I have been riding since I was five and have gone through 6 bikes and recently bought a 2002 YZf250. Without a doubt the best bike ever. I am 13 and on a big bike and love it to death! Show less

This is the best full size dirtbike I have ridden by far. It's really reliable and easy to start now that I got the procedure right. I can ride anything on this beast, woods, mx, desert. It'll make it up and thru anything.. Show less

After months of searching for a bike, I found that with my height, Yamaha bikes fit me the best (really long legs) and after getting over my ego in having an R6, I found that the 600R is a perfect bike for new rides as well as pros. It has plenty of power, topping out at around 130 or so. Plus, for the price, it can't be beat. I could not afford an R6 and after taking the motorcycle safty course I realized that I did not need a 100+ HP bike, and as far as specs go, from 99 to 07 the 600r have all the same spec just different plastic. This is an amazing bike, you don't need a track bike for the street. Show less

I purchased this bike in January 2003 and other than upgrades and a top end once a year, I've had absolutely no problems from this bike. I piss a lot of people off with this bike because it pulls out of the hole like a tractor and will rev to the moon on the top side. There isn't a hill I can't climb with it or a jump I can't clear with it. It has NEVER failed to start on the first kick and never complained about my fat butt abusing it. You would come closer to getting my wife than this bike from me. And the best part is I can put a top end in it for 120.00 verses several hundred to do it on a 4 stroke. Show less

I've had the 426 for a little more than a year now and no problems. The suspension is a little soft for anyone 180-190lbs. The power is great, it has great snap out of the corners and loves race gas but does not mind 91. I'm a heavy guy but it pulls me around like nothing. The bike is really reliable and worth buying if you find one. Show less

Wanted to upgrade from my old CR250, bought this mint 2002 426 with spare plastics and exhaust. Took it for a 600 acre ride at Toms Farm central Wales and held on all day. What an absolute beauty in full wolfs clothing, any gear will have this animal pointing at the sun/moon and will howl all day. No terrain is to difficult, Yamaha have got it spot on with this motor. I am 17 140 pounds, and I just bought a 2002 Yamaha blue R6. It's great! It's got plenty of power and its handling is great. I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone who finds one. Show less
