You can have your FatBoys and your Runes...for overall boulevard bruiser good looks, power, options and comfort...I'll take my Roadie any day!! Simply put, this is a rider's bike. Gobs of torque, and all the bells and whistles one needs to make a ride in relative comfort to Sturgis, Hollister, or wherever the road takes you. The Silverado edition adds great value with the windshield, studded seats (if you like that classic style as I do), backrest and saddle bags. Have taken this baby from northern BC to Sturgis twice now, as well as rides around Washington and Oregon State, never had a problem with anything...just too much fun!!

What a terrific ride for almost 6000 miles on that trip from Las Vegas to DC and back. Not a single problem! After my trip I started to investigate upgrades. I am quite proud of my Silverado and I receive numerous compliments. It has plenty of power and just looks great. I plan on keeping this one for quite awhile.

I purchased it new in 2004 and I really am super pleased with it! I'm so satisfied with my 2003; bad for Yamaha, I don't even consider a new one. Why should I? My daily one-way commute is 65 miles and I've ridden my Road Star in the worst of thunderstorms, heavy rain, cold weather, and heavy Wash., DC traffic (not to mention my recent 4K round trip to "Sturgis 2005"). Like many others, the wait for warm-up is more than I like, but I've learned to just ride off with the choke partially on for about a mile, then push it the rest of the way in and ride on. It's a solid ride with plenty of power and stability -- I highly recommend it more for experienced riders, though, because of the weight and power!

I spent about two months test driving, reviewing, talking with other riders, reading specs, etc. trying to decide after 25 years of being without a bike, last being a 69' 305 superhawk honda, weighing in at 220 and 55 years old, which bike did I want to really ride. Tried the Honda VTX 1800 and 1300, Kawasaki Vulcan, Harley Road King, Suzuki LC1500, and found the Yamaha Silverado Road Star had them all beat, price, quality, power, warranty, etc. In four weeks I have over 3000 miles on it, about 1500 long distance and the same in short 100 miles jaunts. Absolutely the best choice. About the same setup and price of all the others except the Harley was approx. 9,000 dollars more, and in my opinion, 9,000 of wasted money for the bike. I'm getting about 42 mpg compared to the VTX1800's 30 or less. Paid $12,977 drive out and got lite bar, helmet and engine crash bar thrown in for free. Added $600 for the 60 month YES program and unlimited mileage. Honda was the only other mfg that had a similar warranty. The bike is a torque monster, easy to handle, smooth on the highway at 70+ and doesn't put your feet and hands to sleep like the HD. Let's see, I've got $9000 extra cash, a better bike and enough money to buy some really neat leathers.
