I bought the V Star 650 for the price (got the whole package with an extended 3 year service contract), and for the looks of the machine (I think it is very eye pleasing). I have had no problems and love the ride. I put 91 octane Union 76 gas in it, and keep a battery tender attached when it's sitting in the garage. I just had the first maintenance done on it (at around 600 miles). The 650 engine has more than enough power to it. I have to throttle back on the freeway or I can hit 75 mph real easy! The ride is so smooth, and I don't have a problem with the seat. don't hesitate to purchase this great bike!

I have spent the last four days riding the bike for any excuse, including 'I want to try out my new sunglasses.' It is just plain fun to ride, even in less than optimal city traffic; very responsive turning and acceleration as the conditions warrant. When I first took it onto the Interstate, I was concerned that the relatively 'small' engine would not be able to get me up to speed to avoid becoming someone's hood ornament. Boy was I wrong! Before I knew it, I was running at 80 mph and having to throttle back (speed limit 65)! I have started calling the bike my mistress, because she's made a 'widow' out of my (loving & ever so understanding) wife, and because she is definitely a 'looker.' The only downer is the large quantity of plastic on the engine covers. Oh yeah, it needs a bigger 'glove box.' I can't get my winter gauntlets in there!

This is a head turner. Everyone asks if this a Harley. I say nope - V-Star. I'm proud it is a head turner. Love this bike. Rides very smooth and gets good gas mileage. Rode my first long 200 mile trip and was very comfortable. Hats off to Yahama.... read more

I just started riding three months ago and got the V Star as my first bike. I love it so much I might end up keeping it forever! It handles well, inspires confidence and has plenty of power. I'm still not comfortable at speeds over 70mph, but that's me, not the bike. It's a great bike - get one!... read more
