Bought it two years ago with 1000 miles from a major dealer in Covina California. I am going to downsize. I also own a 900 Kawasaki and a 2006 Harley-Davidson. This 1800 Honda Goldwing is the fastest and most solid motorcycle I have ever owned but it is a big bike. Even bigger than my Harley. Selling at a low price simple to downsize. Goldwing F6B Having ridden nothing but Honda Valkyries for the past 20 years, when it came time to upgrade, I decided to stick with something familiar. The Honda Goldwing F6B is a close relative of the Valkyrie. Bigger engine, more buttons and stuff. First impression was that it was very very wide. Felt like I was tippy-toeing because I was doing the splits to get on the seat. Also, the riding position felt more like what I imagine a scooter feels like, rather than a motorcycle. I was also discombobulated that I couldn't see the road, where the front tire is. All of that was an adjustment. I didn't really like it either. What I DID like is that once I got it going it was even more nimble than my Valkyrie, even though it had more fairings and bigger engine! The power came in more of a straight line. I finally learned what most of the buttons do. Never thought I'd ever care about speakers, but I've really enjoyed having them. The bike is comfortable, smooth, fast, nimble, fat, and has so much storage. I took a trip from Houston to St. Pete's beach in Florida for a week-long business conference. Stopped by Daytona bike week on my way down through Tampa (only 4 hours out of the way or so). I had space enough for all my business clothes, casual clothes, helmet, gloves, and jacket, plus souvenirs from bike week and St Pete's beach!! I just can't get over how much Crap I can carry with me. Extra ammo, dry food, spare water, charger, air compressor, clothes, first air kit, a whole mess of tools, etc. etc. etc. I'm telling you it's crazy how much you can fit in the saddle bags. I also bought a 41L top box for the trip, I've never had the ability to bring stuff I was almost sure I wouldn't need on a motorcycle trip! haha! Changing the air filter is truly insane. Honda has engineered the entire bike around the air filter to protect it in case of any crash. you must remove everything on the bike to access the air filter. Honda. c'mon. that's demonic. I've had 3 of these Honda Valkyries, GL1500C over the years. I've taken them to Valkyrie Rallies all over the US, down the Tail of the Dragon a few times, to Van Couver, BC, Canada from Houston, TX. I have found them to be extremely fun, fast, reliable, powerful. I'm a big guy nowadays, so I don't look as ridiculous on a big bike, and I need a bike that can carry my weight, plus a passenger on occasion, plus luggage! One of the best things about this model bike is the support community. If you log onto the VRCC (Valkyrie Riders Cruisers Club) they have technical info and a knowledge base to get you through any problem. I love that a lot of those guys have 300,000 miles on a Valkyrie! Changing the air filter is a real pain. There's not a lot of clearance between the top of the shift lever and the bottom of the 6 cylinder engine that's mounted just above that lever. Just enough for a regular boot. If you had one of those boots with the extra thick sole, there'd be no way to fit it in there. Of course, everything is adjustable, but still. There's less and less aftermarket parts available as time marches on and these haven't been made since 2002, but there's still stuff out there. An old school Valkyrie will perform, it's a lot more nimble than it looks, it's smooth and well balanced, powerful, fast and torquey. It's getting harder to find aftermarket parts. And dealerships won't work on bikes that old, usually. Although private shops will, of course. I don't know what other bike can cruise across country so fast and smooth and reliably for $4K or less.
