Honda Silver Wing reviews

20 years ago I would not be “caught “dead” on any scooter. However, with the passage of time, my body has developed mobility issues (if you can’t raise your leg, you can’t run with the big dogs). Therefore, I find myself in the position of either a scooter or nothing. I chose a scooter. After checking out a 650cc, two different 400 cc and a 600 cc scooter, I decided the most appropriate scooter for me was a Honda SilverWing 600 cc (actually 582 cc) so I purchased the nicest one I could find. My son and I put over 300 miles on this highway capable machine and I am very happy with my purchase. This is an excellent bike for a rider who wants convenience and comfort out of the machine. I commute to and from work, which is 28 miles each way. It handles well. The only draw back is if the wind speed is over 20 miles per hour. It does not handle well against wind resistence. Show less

The front springs are too soft, but can be replaced with little problem. I set up a back rest, not a butt rest and have a great ride. You can ride with the big boys all day, with more storage, just get over the "macho" thing and you will be way ahead. No more so-called bikes for me. Show less

I've been riding since I was 18. This is my first scooter and I can't help but notice the odd center of gravity compared to a regular bike. I attribute this to the smaller wheels. It takes a little getting used to. It has great power and is a really fun bike. Also, harkening back to the street bikes I used to have, it makes me wish for a more masculine exhaust note. Getting one of these is worth it just for the looks on the faces of Harley riders as I catch up and pass them! Show less

In the past 6 years had a Honda Shadow 600, gone up to Goldwing, Magnas, Valkyrie, Yamaha V-star, Suzuki C50C, and a couple of other scooters. This Silver Wing is my 12th one. And I have to say that I am very impressed. Like it very much. Has everything I wanted and felt very solid. Communicated very well with rider(me)in handing bumps, taking off, and stopping. This is exactly what I've been looking for! A scooter with an attitude of a 600cc bike. Many people like the option of a bike with the twist and go like myself. It has the look and feel of a touring motorcyle and a comfortable ride for the passanger. The extra space for storage is such a plus. I'm thinking of a back trunk for a little more storage with the added back rest for the passanger. Thank you Honda for making this great bike. Show less

MY SILVERWING HAD 4,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT IN 2004. IT NOW HAS 26,500. I HAVE RODE IT SOUTH TO KEY LARGO,FL NORTH TO GREENBURG, PA. AND WEST TO BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI. PLANNING ON MAKING IT TO ST LOUIS, MO NEXT SUMMER. IT STILL RIDES COMFORTABLY AND SMOOTHLY. LIKE ANOTHER REVIEWER MENTIONED THE RIGHT SIDE GLOVE BOX ON MINE DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY AND THERE IS SOME RATTLING FROM THE FRONT END. EVERTHING ELSE IS FINE. I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR A MOTORCYLE IF GIVEN THE CHANCE. I LOVE IT. Show less

I have ridden many bikes in my 30 years, sports bike, curisers, and dirt bikes, but this is by far the most comfortable bike that I have ridden. It has enough power to keep up with any 600 cc sports bike with a novice rider and out perform any cruiser. This is my last bike unless Honda makes a 750 cc Honda Silverwing, then I will get that to keep up with the sports bike coming out of a curves. Show less

I bought my Silver wing in March of 2007. It had 16000 miles on it at time. It came with the driver's back rest, Monokey luggage box, strobe brake light and chrome mirrors. I added the taller Givi windshield. I am 62 years old and find this bike to be very comfortable, smooth riding and surprisingly fast. It is very quiet. I go to work at 3:30am without waking the neighbors. I would recommed the Silver Wing to anyone. Show less

I must say I was uneasy about buying one but I have to say it was the best decision I made. Handles great, no hand cramps from pulling in a clutch bar in city traffic. Tons of storage space, can go food shopping and put all items in the under seat storage and in the GiVi top box. I get 58 mpg!! Traveling at 60mph. Lots of takeoff speed and top speed 120. I call it my wolf in sheeps clothing or my Super Scooter. Will buy one again when and if I can wear this one out. Jeff ,Caro MI. Show less
