This is my son's first bike. It's a great, safe starter motorcycle no doubt for beginners. My son loved it so much and commuted to his high school daily. Easy to maintain. fuel efficient and reliable brand. Never regretted buying this bike but it's time to upgrade thus need to say good bye to her. Show less

I bought this bike for my son to learn on. We had a 250 Ninja, but I wanted something more sedate. He got his license and moved on to the ninja. I thought of selling the nighthawk, but it was fun and I decided to add some foam grips and a 15 tooth front sprocket a couple years ago. It can cruise comfortably at 65, but can struggle on hills and high wind. I'm approaching retirement and wanted a bigger bike, but my wife said she won't ride with me, so I figured the nighthawk will get the job done if I'm soloing it. I added a center stand and a rear rack. The most I've done in a day is about 250 miles, but I know I can take it farther with no problem. I will replace the chain and both sprockets and change the fork oil to a heavier weight, and while the rear wheel is off, replace the rear brake shoes. It delivers up to 80 MPG in good conditions, and never gets below 65 MPG. No repairs needed yet. I would recommend it to anyone who wants cheap, reliable transportation and doesn't care about impressing the Jones. Show less

Three words describe this scooter: Alot of Fun! I bought my '01 from a guy that lives about 10 miles from me. I got an incredible deal on it ($1200!!). The bike had only 2800 miles on it when I bought it. The only things I have had to do have been to replace the tires (10" rear, 12" front) and replace the cap that covers the antifreeze compartment (blew off when riding). The bike runs like a champ. Off the line, it smokes other cars at a stop light. I have had the scooter over 70 mph (as indicated by the dash), but suspect its about 2-3 mph less than that. Most of the time, on the highway, I ride about 65 mph. I get nearly 70 mpgs!!! The quality and build of the bike is admirable. I have owned many bikes over my time riding, and this has to be among the most comfortable bikes I have ever ridden. Sometimes though, my upper back starts to hurt, due to the far forward positioning of my feet. This bike has a lot of practicality to it, too! There's ample storage in the rear. It can easily hold two full face helmets, or several bags of groceries! The bike has easy to use signals, lights and an easy to understand dashboard. It even has a digital fuel gauge! The bike has a front brake on the top right handle and a rear brake on the floorboard right side. I love the looks of the scooter and get lots of compliments and questions, something which I never got on a regular motorcycle. All in all, you can't go wrong with this scooter. It's so much better built than what you will find in the Chinese Clone market (take the QLink clone for example, which just looks like a Helix, without the quality parts!!). If you want a reliable, good looking, great performing bike, and can find one used, buy it!!! Show less

This bike was designed to putt around town for beginner riders. Low speed stop and go will last forever. I am picking two up for my 15 and 12-year-old boys while they learn how to ride. Each will be given a custom built (they are building them) for their 18th birthdays. Great for college/high school kids to get them to and from school/work. Show less

I am a little 0lder now, and riddled with arthritis. This bike has allowed me to continue riding, and take a passenger with me. Plenty of power, stability and comfort. What a great ride!! Show less

I am an invalid who must walk on two canes. But I am no cripple when on my Helix. Thoroughly reliable, all the head and leg room that I need! Great for everything from city streets to state highways, I can count on 65mph on level roads and 60mpg on fuel efficiency. I bought a 2006 in 2006...it has already paid for itself with gas alone! Above all, it is DEPENDABLE. It DELIVERS. It has added such richness to my life. Show less

I USE MY HELIX FOR COMMUTING TO WORK. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD EVER BE ON A BIKE OF SOME KIND, BUT I TRIED IT AND I LOVE IT. I JUST GET ON AND GO. IT IS COMFORTABLE AND EASY TO RIDE. Show less
