Harley-Davidson FLHR Road King reviews

I purchased this bike used. I have owned it for about 1 1/2 yrs. Up until about 4 yrs ago, I had never owned a Harley. I had mostly Honda’s Kawasaki’s and BMW’S for the past 50 yrs or so. I went to a Harley dealer just to look and wound up purchasing a used Limited. This was a very powerful and comfortable bike. This bike actually seemed more comfortable than my BMW. The BMW is awesome but the seats never seem real comfortable for me and for me, I have to go for an aftermarket seat. Since owning the used Limited, I had switched around with several Harley’s. I had a sport Glide a Street Glide and a Road Glide. I loved them all but when I found the Road King I took it for a ride and just had to have it. It is a lot easier to handle than the Road Glide or Limited. The Road Glide is an awesome bike but lives better on the highway on long rides. The Road King on the other hand is a great touring bike as well as easier to handle in town. It is quick and powerful but comfortable and balanced quite well. The Road King for me is the best of both worlds meaning that it handles great in city traffic but can give you an awesome touring ride all day long without any sacrifices. The only thing I miss on the Road King is a radio but I have solved that by getting a helmet with Bluetooth speakers and a radio but I normally Bluetooth my phone to my helmet and listen to Pandora or Amazon Music. I bought this Road Glide new in 2008 and had the dealership add many "extras". The bike is older schoolHarley with vibration at Idle which is classic HD. Road trips are fantastic with cruise control, great sound and plenty of storage. The Fairing is fixed (shark nose) and allows good air flow and protection. Floor boards allow ample movement and the seat is comfortable. The King tour Pack my spouse really like it a lot when she rode. The tour pack gives security for the rear passenger with a large back area for support. The reach seat has great padding for the passenger and is good for firm support at stop sign and red lights. Overall this has been a great bike but just don't ride it enough to honor it. Show less

I went from a road king custom to the street glide special, it was a big difference, I have been riding for 30 years and still love my 1984 fxrs low riders it has been out standing in motorcycle performance and comfort Show less

This motorcycle has been a very reliable vehicle and has been well cared for. The bike runs well and looks good. The full windshield allows comfortable driving in cooler weather and helps keeps rain off of the driver. Crash bar covers are included which also help with wind and rain. I am selling this bike because I'm looking for a bike with more options. Show less

Love riding this bike. It's a really comfortable bike to ride. Some days, I will ride through an entire tank and not be sore at the end of the tour. Big, heavy, and reliable. Love the classic, retro look of the bike, especially when I remove the windshield. Show less

This is an older HD, so obviously not quite as comfy as the newer models; however, it has held my wife and me in good stead through long trips from SoCal up to Wyoming and Victoria, B.C., among others. With the upgraded Performance Package installed in 2012, the overall power increased by about 15%, and that was a worthwhile addition. I just turned 70, and my joints are starting to fail on me, so physically it was time for me to admit that Father Time has gotten the best of me, at least when it comes to riding a bike. But I've loved my HD from the day I purchased it, and although over the sixteen years that I've owned it, it's got a few bumps and nicks, it's still a solid bike, and if I was ten years younger, I wouldn't consider parting with it. This Road King has been very reliable on many rides. Very smooth running. Painted Luxury Blue and Black. 12.5" high Chubby handlebars are shoulder height. Bad Lander Seat. Custom Chrome wheels with matching break disc. Tires are in good condition. Chrome front lower forks. The backrest with luggage rack can be easily removed. Lot of chrome. The Vance Hinds Big Shot Dual exhaust. Removable Windshield. Bike cover. Show less

I love this bike. If I had more time I would keep and ride it but unfortunately I do not so I decided to sell. It has very low mileage; unfortunate for me but great for potential buyers. I did some work on the bike including - leather handle bars - upgraded mirrors - installed mustache guard - progressive adjustable rear shocks - screamin eagle stage 1 engine mod with air filter system - vance Show less
